Election-related stuff making me giggle today...

I did the celebrity facial recognition thingie, using five different pictures to see if it consistently told me I looked like the same celebrities. No one matched all five times; the most I got was three.

Three matches:
Kate Winslet (works for me)
Shirley Temple (WTF?)
Hilary Rodham Clinton (OMGWTFPOLARBEAR)

Two matches:
Emma Watson (hurray, I'm cleared to dress up as Hermione)
Isabella Rossellini (dammit, I wanted Lena Olin)

The highest percentage match I got was Shakira at 73%, but she didn't appear as a match in any of the four other pictures.

Interesting little thingie, the facial recognition whatsit. Not quite sure they've got all the kinks worked out.

ETA: In Soviet Russia, JAYNE HAT WEARS YOU! )

Yay yay yay, I now know where my life is going for at least the next six weeks. We're going to be staying in Boston through the end of January, because [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue got cast as Officer Lockstock in Urinetown and I'm going to be the costume designer, wooohoo!! (I'm also going to be in a couple of the dance numbers, but nothing else because the rehearsal period is SO short.) I'm really, really excited about costuming this show because it'll be the first one I've ever really *designed.* I have sketches and everything. *is stupidly proud*

Also making me happy is the absolutely heavenly Brazil Nut body butter from Body Shop that [livejournal.com profile] carbon_scoring gave me. OMG, best thing ever for ouchy dry winter skin. Also I smell like a nut!

And I'm going hoooooome for Christmas!

ETA: Your daily dose of adorable Jayne-hatted baby

Dude, even in my *dreams* I can't get away from this show. First I dreamed that Allison and I became stepsisters (WTF?) and became the subjects of a reality TV show about blended families (no, really, WTF?). Then I had a completely separate dream where ML and I were going to a spa because she was all stressed about the show and the fact that Jax wanted to have Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett sell cotton candy at intermission. Why is my brain only this creative when I'm asleep?

And I completely crashed at 9:30 pm, only to wake up fully rested at 2 am. Probably a consequence of my weird-ass sleeping schedule of late. (But 14 hours of sleep on Saturday felt SO GOOD!) I have work tomorrow though, so I should probably try to get back to sleep. Clearly the solution is to read fanfic until I'm exhausted.

As for the show-- yeah, it's pretty good. I'm proud of us. I just want to take care of some fiddly costume bits that I didn't get a chance to fix before opening, and then I'll be unreservedly proud of us.

I realized I hadn't updated since last week, so I thought I'd just post quickly:

- I *finally* got to watch the last three eps of BSG and Lantis and I'll be posting my thoughts on those sometime in the near future. I'm working on DLing Lost and Arrested Development.

- Work so far has been pretty good; I'm a receptionist at a cute little biotech company right near campus, which is convenient. They asked me to work full days MTW of this week, because another staffer was going to be out, so that was cool. Mostly I answer the phone and file stuff. It's refreshing, really. The only downside is that the company candy jar sits on my desk, so I snack much more than I should.

- I spent gobs of time with [livejournal.com profile] wendyhouse and nesodj last week, which I really enjoyed. This week I don't get to see them at all though. :( Yoda's head, hands, and feet are looking *great*, and nesodj learned to roll over, so it was a good week for both.

- Star Wars progresses. The big crowd scenes are going to be SO COOL with our huge cast! And [livejournal.com profile] mama_threepio arrived last week, which has been woooooonderful. She is a costuming goddess and it has been super-fun to hang with her and [livejournal.com profile] carbon_scoring in the office. Also, I'm amused that even as we continue to pare the show down, we keep cramming in ever more jokes and gags.

- My dad brought up my car last week! My daddy is so cool, he flew out to San Diego and then drove our car across the country so we could have it here. My darling CiCi is back with me again! Of course Rogue's the one driving it. :) Me and Boston roads are not mixy things.

And now I should get back to filing.

Lot of stuff's been going on lately. First off, thank you so much to everyone who left good wishes on my last post. Y'all are awesome. :)

Sweeney ended last night with a bang; both the Friday and Saturday performances sold out and I've heard nothing but good things from the folks who saw it. We run-crew types all wore Jayne hats for the intermission set change on the last two nights, which got a fun reaction from the orchestra and some audience members. I helped [livejournal.com profile] lurknomore cook for the strike party, along with [livejournal.com profile] carbon_scoring, [livejournal.com profile] collamalleen, and Dana. Never again will we use the Talbot kitchen because OMGROACHESGROSS. But I cooked eight pounds of bacon all by myself. It was kind of fun.

Speaking of Jayne hats, I finally have a picture of my baby!Jayne hat worn by an actual baby:

That's Nicholas Edward, my babysitting/mother's-helper charge. Isn't he the cutest thing ever? I think he might have a slightly worrisome attraction to Hilary Duff, though.

Today was, yes, my birthday. It's [livejournal.com profile] julietvalcouer's, too. Happy birthday, Jennifer! [livejournal.com profile] carbon_scoring and [livejournal.com profile] collamalleen were lovely and took me to lunch at Bertucci's. Mmmm, Bertucci's. Then we went to Goodwill and I got four new work-type skirts because I have a new job starting tomorrow! It's through the temp agency; I'm going to be a receptionist at a small biotech company in Cambridge for about a month. I have no idea what it's going to be like, but it's a job and I'm grateful for it.

And the big event-- tonight was read-through for Star Wars. This show is going to be SO AWESOME. The energy and excitement in the room were palpable, and it was so great to see so many people laughing and clapping and enjoying themselves. We have such a rockstar cast. Bill's Emperor is creepy beyond words, Kenny's Yoda sent us all into hysterics, Bonk's Chewbacca jazz hands are hilarious even without the costume...it just goes on and on. And it was so cool to finally get to read through Empire and Jedi-- I can't wait to start real rehearsals! Also there was a cake and everyone sang me happy birthday. It cracked me up that the candles we had in the office were the ones we'd used on my 21st birthday cake!

So yeah, life's good. I'm pretty busy, but it's the good kind of busy. And it's just lovely to be back with all the people I'd missed so desperately while we were gone. I love you all!

I was over at [livejournal.com profile] wendyhouse's babysitting Nicholas Edward the Chopsaw while she worked on sculpting the Yoda head, and she put in 10th Kingdom, which I had never seen before but I'd heard great things about.

OH. MY GOD. It is SO SO SO SO SO SO GOOOOOOD! We got about halfway through, just after the shepherdess competition (funniest thing EVAR) and then we had to leave for the costume build. Kimmerie promises we can watch the rest tomorrow but I wanna see it NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!!!!! And I can't go looking for anything about it online yet because I don't want to be spoiled for the end. *cries* *flails*

Build tonight was super-fun, especially talking fandom near the end with [livejournal.com profile] carbon_scoring and [livejournal.com profile] lurknomore: "Well, I guess I can understand why you might write yourself as a half-catgirl who hooks up with your hero of choice, but why on earth would you think other people would be interested and thus post it on the Internet?" Online fandom is awesome, but there's nothing quite like sharing your obsessions in person. And scaring the people around you by jumping up and down.
