Knitting update!

I have been doing lots of knitting lately! I'm finding it quite soothing, except for today when I ended up doing one toe three times over. But mostly very soothing. Pictures of my finished objects lurk behind the cut!

Red Scarf Project Red Scarf Project
This is my scarf that I knit for the Red Scarf Project! Here it is being blocked on a sheet on my floor, cause it was the best I could come up with last minute. It's black, maroon, and forest green Wool-Ease, and I don't know what the stitch is properly called but it's where you do k2p2 for two rows and then p2k2 for two rows.

And here it is all finished and pretty! I sent it off at the end of January.
Dulaan hats Dulaan hats
These five hats are what I've made so far for the Dulaan project. They're all made from worsted-weight Christmas present leftovers. Four of them are the half-assed hat pattern, as linked by [livejournal.com profile] knitress, and the other is this double-knit hat from knitty. It was my first foray into double knitting and I think it went pretty well!
Fingerless mitts Fingerless mitts
I hopped on board the fingerless-mitt bandwagon when [livejournal.com profile] wisteria_ linked to knitty's Fetching mitts. I figured it was a good way to learn cables, which turned out to be really easy! For the yarn, I used a ball I'd picked up in Boston last year, a really pretty lavendar with a lovely sheen. It was in the discount bin and unlabelled, and it was only after I made the mitts that I thought to burn test it. It turned out to be cotton, which isn't really the best choice for this pattern, but they're pretty and I like them. I'll probably make a wool pair too, in a slightly more practical color.
My first socks! My first socks!
So, these are my first socks, made from the Generic Socks for Rank Beginners worksheet that [livejournal.com profile] kelbebop sent me. The yarn is Regia Jubilee in color 5468, because it was what I liked best of the selection at the LYS. These socks have some very serious issues. Which is why I made them for myself, because I knew I was going to screw up my first time around. The most glaring problem is that they are TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT SIZES. I did this deliberately. Why, I really can't tell you. I knit the first one on size 3 needles, and the sock turned out too big, and so I made the second one and very consciously knit it much tighter (but on the same size needles), so it would be smaller. I really don't know why I thought this was a good idea. I also have no idea why I decided to knit the entire cuff in k1p1 rib. So both of these are getting frogged and reknit on size 1s. But later, when I'm done with my current pair of socks (going much better!), because I'm really quite cranky with these socks at the moment.
