Caitlin, weird inquiry here but how much did the material cost for the firefly dress kaylee wore? And how much time did you have to spend doing it? Katherine complains that ruffles are from hell but I was just wondering.
Oh, God...something like $200? Very expensive as my costumes usually go. That's including the hoopskirt and the ruffler foot I bought. The ruffles weren't too terrible, but I made mine with a ruffling foot and I think Katherine does hers by hand. It was just a very long time first serging the strips of fabric and then ruffling them.
Time, I have no idea. It was a lot. I made it in basically a week and a half but not sleeping very much at all during that time. And while I liked the skrit, I completely half-assed the bodice because I ran out of time. I meant to make a corset to go under it and bought all the supplies, but didn't have time to make it.
