gyaaahhh brain breaky

So I'm poking around IMDB like I do sometimes, mostly looking at SG1 stuff to familiarize myself with the actors and whatnot, and I think, "Huh, the original movie. I think I saw that at the LSC Sci-Fi marathon once...wonder who was in it?" And I click over, and I'm thinking, "Hmmm, James Spader, sounds familiar, why does that sound familiar-- oh my God!"

Alan Shore and Daniel Jackson are the same person. Brain go *pop*!

(And on that note, waaaaah I want my Boston Legal back. Stupid Gray's Anatomy.)

Okay who is Alan Shore ? My familiarity with James Spader goes back to "Tuff Turf" and "Pretty in Pink" days, I.E., the big floofy haired eighties. Ooh, and that Jack the Ripper movie he was in. But Alan Shore isn't ringing any bells for me.

(Though I did so lurve him to death in the SG movie. Hot language geek. Yum! Hubba Hubba.)

Boston Legal. It's James Spader's character on Boston Legal.

You gotta love IMDB.

Alan Shore is the delightfully amoral lawyer who first appeared on the last season of "The Practice" (which we never watched, but it was on after Alias) and was then spun off into his own show, "Boston Legal," with William Shatner and Candice Bergen. It's amazingly fantastic, largely because all the characters are so insane and interact with each other in odd ways.

I probably missed something, but why the sudden interest in Stargate? You do realize that Michelle and Sonia are among the world's foremost experts, don't you? :)

And I don't know who Alan Shore is, either.

See above for the Alan Shore explanation.

As for SG1, Ben Browder and Claudia Black (aka John and Aeryn of "Farscape") will both be appearing in the show's ninth season, Ben as a regular and Claudia recurring. Since I would follow Ben and Claudia off a cliff if they told me to, I'm familiarizing myself with the show so I can start watching it when the new season airs this summer.

Woah! He was also in Mannequin! There's a movie I haven't thought about in years...

Mannequin was the movie that made me think that Andrew McCarthy and James Spader were lovers. It was the only explanation I could come up with to explain why Spader would take that role.

And also the thought of 80s McCarthy and 80s Spader doing it is hot. :)

Totally agree! James Spader as Daniel Jackson is strange to watch, I'm used to seeing him playing such out there eccentric characters.
