I feel so validated! I've been calling them "muffin pants" all along!

ETA: Oh. My freaking AllieChrist. They're making a sequel to The Cutting Edge. There's no plot summary, but just from looking at the credits it seems like freaking *Kim Possible* (alias Christy Carlson Romano) is playing Kate and Doug's daughter. Of course, the credits can't decide who's playing Doug, either, although there's just the one Kate (still Moira Kelly).

Inwardly I am weeping. Why? WHY!? WHY WHY WHY must they do this to me? The first movie had a perfectly beautiful cheesy ending. I don't need to see Kate and Doug, Fifteen Years Later and Fatter. (Also I saw DB Sweeney on an episode of CSI and GYAH GOOD GOD MAN. Perhaps this is why they are [maybe] replacing him.)

If they make a sequel to Ice Castles next, there's going to be BLOOD. LEAVE MY FIGURE SKATING MOVIES IN PEACE KTHX.

We've been referring to them as "arc-length girls" for quite a while here. Y'know, s equals the integral over dx of the square root of (1 plus the square of dy/dx)...

I've always thought that low-rise pants were disturbingly tasteless, anyway. But I'm sure there are people who think that about my standard baggy-pants-and-flannel approach.

Ice Castles was one of my favorite movies as a kid. FAVORITE.

My mom just never had a chance at understanding me. Mickey Mouse, GI Joe, Transformers, mathematics and Ice Castles. And the whole drama/choir/band thing, but at least that made some sense to her.

I think the theme to IC makes her skin crawl to this day. *lol*

Of course they are making a sequel. But didn't they learn anything from Iron Eagle 2???

It was probably greenlit after Ice Princess started getting good buzz during post-production, but before it only barely broke even at the box office. :-)

I'm with you - this is just wrong. The first movie was so delightful, with a nice cheesy ending indeed. Really, why can't some people leave well enough alone? ::sigh::

I friggin' hate those pants - I can't believe so many women go out in public in them. I thought we were all so paranoid about looking fat? I guess the style could be seen as good - it's obviously cured some women of that worry...

And slightly OT, but did you see on ChristyCR's imdb page that there was apparently a Lilo and Stitch/KP crossover episode? Have you seen this? I actually find myself really wanting to see this...

I haven't seen that episode. I haven't watched the Lilo and Stitch series at all. But it seems like it woudl be a fun ep. :)

I have seriously mixed feelings about a Cutting Edge sequel! I so love that movie. If they had a different Doug, it'd be odd. Hmm...

Don't worry. DB Sweeny is not playing Doug (per his website). I just saw the posting for the movie on IMDB myself and was weirded out.
