owwwwwww

First day back skating in two months, and I had a spectacular bellyflop-fall in the middle of a block. Thankfully, the girls behind me were able to skate around, and no one ran into me. But I have a rather impressive lump on my left knee and a lovely bruise on my right. (The downside to synchronized skating: your arms are usually otherwise occupied, so when you fall, it's your knees that take the brunt of it.)

Ugh - I hope you're doing better now! When do you take your tests to reach the levels you talked about needing for the team?

Well, I have to get some coaching and extra ice time first. I'm hoping to pass Juvenile this summer (that's the one I've already failed twice, so I know the moves pretty much inside and out). But coaching and ice time are expensive, so a lot of it waits on having enough money to skate more than once a week.

Ugh. I'm still waiting for the next trip on my new toepicks to put me face-first into the ice.

Are you testing just Moves, or moves and freestyle? I'm waiting to join USFSA for the summer when they start a new season, and am going start testing the preliminary dances once I do. (Dutch Waltz I just need to get the timing down. Just started Canasta Tango and must get past 'can't remember all those steps' mental phase.) On the one hand, I want to ask about practicing for Moves, too. On the other, I might have to start taking extra lessons for that--that, or starting with Nick for the dances and letting Caroline coach me for Moves.
