(no subject)

You know what bugs me? The fact that there seem to be an inordinate number of stupid H/G fans. I hate having to be ashamed of my own 'shipmates, but the fact is, I all-too-often am. (Please note that I am not saying *all,* just *some.*) It just irritates me no end that the actions of a few can give an entire ship a bad name. I remember this happening on SoapZone too-- different ship, of course-- but it bugged me then, too.

So, to anyone who might be listening: I am a twentysomething, intelligent, well-educated HP fan who happens to ship H/G. I recognize that many, many fans have other ship preferences, and I would never dream of telling them that they're "wrong" or "stupid" for liking those ships-- we all see things differently. And I'm sorry that we all have to deal with people who don't understand the meaning of the word "opinion."

There. I feel better now.

Oh honey, I got one word for you: JediLiz.

I HATE the vast majority of Mara/Luke shippers. But I am not ashamed. Because for being 'shippers. these girls are seriously missing the boat. It's Mara Sueville, I swear.

Of course, I'm a bitch, so there ya go.

Oh. Wow. Good point.

You know, once upon a time, I thought Luke/Mara was an intelligent ship. But over time, I've come to realize that *no* ship is really intelligent, because there are stupid people everywhere. There are just more of them in some ships and fandoms than others.

Speaking as someone who is heavily entrenched in the HP fandom: word. Try shipping Ron/Hermione and Harry/Hermione and Harry/Cho all at the same time. :P I'm indifferent to most Harry/Ginny fics, but dude, they are kinda cute together. And I can't count the times I've not only been embarrassed by the H/Hr and R/Hr people, but had to tear them apart. Jeez. One fandom, yo.

*skedaddles*

*nod* I say "word" to your word. It's really a shame that the HP fandom is so divided, and that people have to be so stupid and territorial about the divisions. I get the feeling it would make going to a HP-centric con very-- weird, I guess, for lack of a better word.

I'm indifferent to most Harry/Ginny fics, but dude, they are kinda cute together.

Actually, I'm indifferent to most H/G fic, too. Probably 95% of the stuff that's out there is just unreadable. (But then, I'm a terrible fanfic snob, possibly rivaling even [livejournal.com profile] snarkel.) In fact, thinking about it, the only H/G story I read is AtE.

Please feel free to invade my lj anytime. :) I read your journal via [livejournal.com profile] snarkel's friends list, and I've also read some of your posts at SQ. (Might I say, I think the idea of Draco and The Meggie is just the cutest thing ever.)

You know, I haven't read AtE yet. Although to be fair, I haven't read very many chaptered fics, just because I haven't had time all semester. I've barely had time to fight off the plot bunnies. I'm glad you like Draco and the Meggie. He thinks that she's a spawn from some circle of Hell -- whichever one distributes tiny redheads with oversized fedoras -- and I'm honestly starting to agree with him.

It's really a shame that the HP fandom is so divided, and that people have to be so stupid and territorial about the divisions.

Yes. I'm pretty open about ships, and to just about anything. Except Evil!Ron. Mentions of Evil!Ron make me get out my beatin' spork. Otherwise I'm peaceful as a lamb, honest. *shines halo*

*points up to [livejournal.com profile] snarkel comments* Word on Luke/Mara too. If I see L/M in a fic summary, chances are I won't read it. And Fluffy!Mara makes me get out the spork again.
