Dude. I mean, HP fandom is a scary, freaky place, but what the shit? First GT.N shuts down over admin infighting, then FA BNFs rip each other to shreds on their LJs. What's next, the SQ professors get into a catfight? There must be something about the pressures of running a site, or a group, especially on the Internet, that makes normally sane people go COMPLETELY PSYCHO.

This is why I'm so so happy to be a fandom non-entity.

Well, in Star Wars fandom running websites seems to make people assholes, too. Just ask Fatboy. :D

But DAMN... I think HP fandom - the slashers, anyway... I think they're all just fucking nuts.

It's a good thing. Trust me. Online HP fandom = scary.

GT.N = gryffindortower.net, now defunct Harry/Ginny site
SQ = sugarquill.net, largely Ron/Hermione site
FA = fictionalley.org, lots of fic, many ships, not so much with the H/G or R/Hr
BNF = big name fan, a fan who is well-known throughout the fandom and sometimes even outside it
