off the deep end

have just spent an hour compositing those two dress photos together, to get a better idea of what I want. The result (which I'm very proud of, since I lack photoshop skillz):

That's very similar to what my cousin's wife had for her dress. Although I believe the sleves were a bit more flowy than that. It was one of the prettiest wedding dresses I've seen. I'm a big fan of sleek and simple.

Great job with photoshop by the way!

Thanks! :) That's actually the one change I was planning to make-- I want the bell part of the sleeves to be longer, at least to my wrist.

Jaina,
You are a wonderful designer! I saw your Pastel Lake dress from Attack of the Clones on http://boards.theforce.net Absolutely beautiful! Is the lake dress a dress you plan to keep...or possibly sell? I am very interested because from your pictures you look about my size. Let me know if you are interested in selling it. If not, would you be willing to make another costume like that one. and of course I would pay. Truly-April

Mmmmmm, that dress is *so* gorgeous! Your photoshop skillz far exceed mine!

Thanks! Now I just have to figure out how to *make* the darn thing!

Perfection. I was just showing my mother the two original photos telling her that this is it minus the angel wings. I'm in love.

*blush* Why thank you. :)

Elegant and lovely. I also think that there is a current sewing pattern for a very similar style gown if you'd consider having your gown dressmaker made.

Thank you, Missi! Do you know which pattern it is, or even what company makes it? I'm planning on making my own dress, so I'm on the hunt for patterns. The sleeves won't be too difficult, and I can manage the bodice, but that dratted skirt is going to give me trouble, I just *know* it... ;-)

That dress is gorgeous! :) I love your choice for the sleeves.. love the whole thing actually! When's the big day?

Thanks Alison! :-D We haven't decided exactly when yet, but sometime around September 2004 is a definite possibility.

Jenn, I just checked several pattern websites, and it might not be current anymore. Not to worry, though... I think it's one I actually BOUGHT. ( I have this little problem that I can't stop buying patterns, even though I can't sew to save my damn life.) Anyway, I'll go through my box and see if it's in there, and get you the pattern number.

It's actually a costume pattern, I'm thinking either McCall's or Butterick.

Many thanks, MIssi!

WOW!! That is going to be one gorgeous dress. Congratulations!

Thank you!! :)

Okay... My sleeve pattern is the McCalls 2810. I don't think it's current, though. And there is an old simplicity Begotten that may come even closer, as it shares the neckline- but I loaned that one out and haven't gotten it back yet. Neither are exact. Simplicity 9891 might be usable, too. And I like the sleeves on Butterick 6593.

The skirt is harder to match. I did a websearch and I didn't see anything exactly like yours. :(

But here's a similiar idea in a skirt- perhaps it'd be useful to you in some capacity. Butterick 3012bk. The skirt gathers over the hips and tummy in the same fashion as yours, but the dress lacks a proper train, and the gathers are more voluminous, more pronounced.

Wow, that's a beautiful dress! I love how it flows.
