My brother left for college today. My little baby brother, all grown up and taller than me, packed up all his stuff and drove to Penn State with our parents. I wish-- I wish I could have been there to see him off.
I was walking into the W20 Athena cluster yesterday and saw, in passing, a poster that said "2006 MIX!" At first I didn't understand it. Then I realized that the new froshlings who are arriving this weekend are the class of 2006. That's just wrong.
I hate working in the sub-basement of 66. It's not like the lab is bad or anything, but the location just-- sucks. The only elevators and stairs are at the complete opposite end of the building. There are emergency stairs at this end that dump you out at the very point of the 30 degree angle, but you can only access them from the sub-basement itself, not from the ground floor. And then there's the fact that J-F's other lab is on the 4th floor of 16, so when I need something from there (and invariably I do), I have to go up 5 floors, walk two buildings over, get it, and come back. Last Thursday I think I did it six or seven times. Up to 16, down to 66. Up to 16, down to 66. You get the picture.
Ali and I presented our poster at the American Chemical Society conference on Monday and Wednesday. Apparently it's a big deal to be in two different poster sessions. Yay. Go us. Look
here to check out the abstract for our fabulous poster.
I just ran over to W20 quickly to grab the check for the new Dexion MTG is buying. Walking past the 16 elevators I ran into
thedan, in a suit and purple hair, being a movie star. While we were talking, Greg walked by from the other direction. Yay for random MTGers crossing paths.
