(I posted this over on my blog, too, so if you follow me there, this will look familiar!)

The first three weekends of April were Star Wars Weekends at Legoland California, and the 501st and Rebel Legions were again invited to troop the events! Legoland is always great fun, so I was happy to get Leia-ed up and join my fellow Legion members. I ended up trooping both the opening and the closing days and had an awesome, if slightly exhausting, time at both. :) While I didn't take any pictures, Rachel and Lesley got some awesome shots!

It was really cold on opening day. Really cold.

We always start off the days at the park entrance, to take pictures with guests:

Home from Celebration V, which was ~AMAZING.~ I was working the Digital Stage and we had some awesome programming-- now I want to go back and watch Clone Wars, and TFU2 and TOR look amazing even though I don't game, and I got the TFU1 novelization at the 501st party, and WHERE IS THE TFU FIC!? I WANTS IT.

Ohgod so sleepy.

Last Friday I went to Star Wars in Concert when it was here in San Diego. I'd already been once, when it was in Anaheim, but it was such fun that I was happy to do it again. I went as part of the 501st/Rebel Legion group, taking pictures in costume with concert attendees. I wore my ANH Leia costume, which seemed to go over pretty well:

More babies means more knitting, and people seem to be having babies every time I turn around! My cousin's baby shower was this past weekend, and I made her three things: a blanket, a hat, and a wee knitted lightsaber.

1. A blanket, to match their nursery decor (yellow and navy blue, apparently involving sailboats). It's about 36" across.

IMG_3389

2. A hat, out of the same light blue yarn I used for the blanket. It's super stretchy and will fit the baby for a long time as he grows. I didn't take a picture (finished it the day before the shower!), but here's a pic of the same hat I made in a different yarn, for a shower for one of Rogue's coworkers. (These hats are super-quick to knit. Rogue emailed me the day before the shower and asked if I could make something. I had it done by the time he was home.)

IMG_3375

3. A wee knitted lightsaber, from the pattern that Nori designed. This was for my cousin's husband, who LOVES Star Wars. I didn't know it when I was making the lightsaber, but he's already bought a Yoda costume for the baby for next Halloween. So that should work out well.

Technical details (yarn, needle size, pattern, etc) are all on my Ravelry project pages, if you're interested.

YAAAAAAAY, Aaron is on the mend! To celebrate, I'm finally posting my Outcast review. I'd been holding off because-- I dunno, it just felt weird and not-right to be doing it while he was still in the hospital. So here it is now.

Let me tell you internets about what an AWESOME Friday I am having:
  • It's Friday!!!!
  • I am going up to the garment district with [livejournal.com profile] aviendiora and [livejournal.com profile] llyrafantasyfae tomorrow!
  • I am wrapping Christmas presents!
    • While drinking hot apple cider
    • And burning actual German incense cones in my actual German smoker dude (mine is a little guy in lederhosen, with a trumpet) that makes me super-nostalgic for our Munich Christmases
    • And watching my *favorite* Christmas special of all time, Christmas Eve on Sesame Street! Big Bird waits for Santa! Bert and Ernie reenact the Gift of the Magi! They play crack-the-whip! Cookie Monster eats the Christmas tree! (And how much did I want to be that little girl who teaches Big Bird to skate?)
    • Next up is Muppet Christmas Carol!
  • I ran four miles today, 11-minute miles the whole way! No more 12-minute miles for me! for me. Run faster = done faster, right J-9?
    • While finishing the last two eps of Disc 1, Season 1 of NCIS. I'm only allowed to watch while I'm working out. :)
  • I mailed off my family's presents today, and hardly had to wait at all. Yay, automated postal center thingies!
  • Oh my gosh, this video of an R2-D2 dance company (via Club Jade):

There's magic in the air this evening, magic in the air...

Yay for Penny Arcade making an obscure reference I actually understand!

Which reminds me, I should post my Order 66 reaction. I've only read the book about four times so far...

Thank you for all the lovely birthday wishes, everyone! I had a marvelous birthday-- [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue took me to yummy yummy dinner at Outback, and then I bought myself Order 66 and read for the rest of the evening. Because nothing says birthday like characters dying! (This is not a spoiler. I haven't finished it yet. I'm just saying, it's Order 66, not The Fluffy Happy Sparkly Clones and Jedi Party. No one is going to fake their death-by-melting and then secretly escape Oz Coruscant. Probably. You never do know with Karen Traviss.)

Also, Rogue bought me book 4 of Dresden Files and S1 of Sarah Connor Chronicles, so I'm pretty set, fictionally speaking.

Things what I did this weekend:

1) Saw Wall-E. Awwwwwwwwwwwww. And had amazing dinner beforehand.

2) Finished Tristan's vest!
2a) ...and worked with leather for the first time! And it was way easier than I thought it would be! Thanks again [livejournal.com profile] aviendiora; there was *exactly* enough space on that smaller piece to fit one of the fronts.
2b) ...and now have a good base pattern for a vest/shirt/tunic that fits [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue. Thanks, Burda 2459! I hope the jacket pattern works equally well.

3) Watched (well, mostly listened to) season 1 of Danny Phantom. Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] raykel! Rogue listened with me (since he was playing WoW) and agrees that it's very fun. As expected, I liked Sam a lot. And Jazz. Yay, girls! Also, a strange fondness for Danny's billionaire archenemy guy.

4) Actually watched a whole episode of Smallville. ([livejournal.com profile] sirrogue has been marathoning it; I usually just listen from upstairs.) It was the episode in the sixth season where they first have the Justice League (except they didn't actually say JL) and I giggled like a little girl. Love their little hoodie outfits. If I were a boy, I'd totally make Beaver's Bart's Impulse costume.

5) BEAT LEGO STAR WARS II (original trilogy)!!!! Er, almost two years after we got it. It was a lot easier once we realized you didn't *have* to beat Super Story in an hour. (How anyone could possibly beat ROTJ in that time, I have no idea.) And played the first adventure of Lego Indy. As I've said before, the Lego games are the only kind I really enjoy, because they're intended for eight-year-olds. So they're only a little bit above my level.

It never fails-- I go through my day thinking "I should post this to lj, I should post that to lj" and then I get home and can't remember what the hell I was going to post.

So have some fic recs:

Hero for a New Age, by [livejournal.com profile] smittywing
SGA; Ronon and Rodney mostly, with some team stuff
"Superman's the last of his kind, too," Ronon said quickly. “I'm going to try to get McKay to rig me up some heat vision so I can melt steel like Superman."
Delightful.

The Making of an Emperor, on the TFN boards
Star Wars: Legacy of the Force and Star Wars: Legacy (seriously, they've got to come up with better names for these things)
OMG YOU GUYS. It's a Jaina-and-Jag-restart-the-Empire fic that doesn't make me want to claw my eyes out! I've been wanting one of those since I first read Legacy. It's not high art, or anything, but compared to the general level of SW fic it's very passable. (Why does most EU fic suck so badly? Why?)

Bromanian Rhapsody, by [livejournal.com profile] dollsome
How I Met Your Mother, Barney/Robin
“You know what?” he continues pensively. “We need our own country. King and queen of Bromania.”
I love Barney/Robin like I love cake. And I *love* cake. Why isn't there more fic??
