jaina: (s60 - danny and jordan are awwww)
Man, I have gotten really bad about updating. Need to post more often. Let's see-- since last I posted, we competed in the San Diego Rocket Race, which is best described as "sort of like The Amazing Race, but with more puzzles and sci-fi trivia." I didn't compete last year (I was with [livejournal.com profile] wendyhouse in Michigan), but one of [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue's teammates had to drop out, so I joined their team. We did not defend our championship, but we did manage a respectable second place, which was a nice surprise since a huge mistake on my part had us about fifth or sixth back after the midpoint. And then we were all very sore for about a week afterward. Owwwww, running.

We spent Thanksgiving with the in-laws, but in Vegas instead of NorCal. It was actually really awesome and relaxing. We stayed with [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue's aunt and uncle, and his mom and stepdad were in a nearby timeshare. We ate a lot (chocolate cake omg) and watched massive amounts of college football. Pretty much the only sources of stress the whole weekend were the drives there and back.

And on a (semi)fictional note, does anyone else think that the current WGA strike would've been an amazing plotline for Studio 60? I mean, you've got both sides represented in the major characters, and they could have scenes on the picket lines with tons of cameos from Hollywood types, and it would be *awesome.* And it makes me sad that we'll never see it. Poor, dead, not-always-very-good Studio 60. I miss you!

ETA: OOOH I found fic YAY!

*is a puddle of goo on the floor*

That is all.

Oh, and I still don't care about Matt and Harriet, but "We have been having this fight in two different *millenia* now!" was possibly the best line of the episode. Right next to "Just how fat did you think I was?"

*goes back to being a puddle of goo*

I was SO EXCITED about Studio 60 finally coming back tonight (because last week did not count for me, what with the lack of Danny and/or Jordan, and also because it totally ruined my awesome idea of Allison Janney playing Cal's wife who bosses him around mercilessly. Come on, wouldn't that have been great?) and now here are some vague-ish S60 spoilers for tonight only )

And so, please enjoy this pictorial log of Strikethrough 2007, complete with lolrus, cats, pirates, and David Tennant.

So here's my issue with this week's Studio 60. (Fine, one of my issues. And I even FFed most of the episode.) You want to do a flashback episode, all right, fine. You want to set it eight years ago, er, well, if you must. Plenty of actors could get away with that fairly realistically. But Matthew Perry, though I love him, is not one of them. I *know* what Matthew Perry looked like in 1999-- he looked like this. (I love that episode!) He did not look like this (warning, giant picture!). Slapping a backwards baseball cap on him ain't gonna cut it, sorry. I'm just glad they didn't try to flashback Danny too, because I also know what Bradley Whitford looked like in 1999, because we're Netflixing Season 1 of West Wing right now. (LOVE, you guys. LOVE.)

Oh, what the hell-- some more caps, because I love TOW Everyone Finds Out:
"She went like *this*!"
"Oh yeah? Well you don't know about Huggsy, my bedtime penguin pal!"
"Wow! You didn't even rip off any buttons!" "Not my first time."
"Yeah, you know what would be even more fun? Telling them."

jaina: (bsg - lee's bringing sexy back!)
Oh, hello, Heroes and Studio 60! I HAVE MISSED YOU SO. (And you too, BSG, welcome back.) Non-spoileryness:

BSG: I cannot believe that the *entire* promo for next week was Anders/Kara/Lee/Dee. Do not *make* me start calling you by soap opera names.

Heroes: Peter's only 26! There is hope!

Studio 60: Want next week NOW NOW NOW. Also, hugs for Steven Weber! Also, watching a first-season episode of West Wing and *then* watching S60? Oh Bradley Whitford, when did you get so old? And...blonde? (But still marvelous, of course.)

jaina: (s60 - heil santa!)
Yay, I found a Christmas icon! Because nothing says the holidays quite like cranky Matthew Perry and Nazi!Santa. Also I had to find a Danny/Jordan icon because they have eaten my brain and it is really kind of shameful. (Now up to eight viewings of "The Christmas Show.") But they're so cute! He's all "YAY!" and she's all "what." and it's fantastic. I have a ship now, so I'm thoroughly attached to the show.

Oh and okay, we borrowed Sports Night from [livejournal.com profile] lemurtanis and [livejournal.com profile] yandros, and [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue has been watching it and I've been sort-of watching but mostly listening, but then we got to the episodes where there was William H. Macy, and I got all excited because FILLIAM H. MUFFMAN! There was no zeppelin, though. But that amused me for a solid half-hour.

AND ALSO! The lone Golden Globe nomination for S60 was Sarah Paulson? Really? I mean-- really? Harriet? Are you sure? I mean, I'm sure Bradley Whitford's at home crying into his pile of Emmys, but--really?

jaina: (hp - chuck norris ships them)
I am very excited! blathering about dance classes, yay! )

Also, I cannot seem to stop watching the Studio 60 Christmas episode. I've watched it three-and-a-half times now and I kind of want to see it again right now. This is probably not healthy. But it's just so adorable! "Go write!" and "GO AWAY!" and "Leave me alone" and "I went to a place called Say It, Say It, Say It" and it's SO CUTE! But I should work on Christmas presents.

...or, I could work on Christmas presents AND watch the episode at the same time! Yes! Genius!

First, the letter meme! It works thusly: Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. Post your list in your journal, and give out some letters of your own; leave a comment for me here so I can read your list!

[livejournal.com profile] wendyhouse gave me L. This was slightly tough, but here 'tis:

1. Livejournal, of course!
2. Lumi, aka Lucas and Sami, aka my soap ship that is made of awesome. And heartbreak. But mostly awesome.
3. Laura Roslin. (She'd throw me out an airlock if I skipped her.)
4. Linen.
5. Logans of all flavors, but especially Echolls.
6. Lucy Lawless, she of the gorgeous accent and voice and self. She should always be blonde!
7. Lambic fruit beer, praises heaped on [livejournal.com profile] yav_14 for introducing us to the wonder.
8. Lena Olin. When I'm fifty, I want to look that good.
9. Lindt chocolate. Mmmm.
10. Libraries.

And now, shippy thoughts on Heroes' fall finale and Studio 60's Christmas episode )

And with a crappy softball game and six excellent episodes of Justice League behind me, I'm going to bed.
