Feeling okay-accomplished. Empowered, too, but not quite enough to rate the Aeryn icon. Between last night and this afternoon, printed out all application materials relevant to the four schools I'm applying to (decided to chuck Harvard; if I'm not planning to go there at *all*, why bother with a fifth application?). Also got a start on my personal statement. It's total crap, but it's a *start*, and that's the most important thing. I have such a mental block about writing, but editing I'm okay with, so as long as there's something for me to work with it won't be as hard to keep going.

Goal is to have a workable draft of the statement to give to recommenders by day before Thanksgiving. Bevin wants my statement, and my resume, so I may as well give 'em all to J-F and Sylvie too.

Fabric Place with Megan and ET pals in half an hour. This is good. They must have some sort of medium-weight crepe in the bridal section. Also have to get a cloak clasp, and will be looking for fabric for Amy and Jen's Eowyn dresses while I'm there. Good thing my Visa has a decently high limit.

After talking with Leslie, think I'm going to alter my final project such that it's the undyed version. That's a much more reasonable goal for three weeks. She's said she'll help me finish over IAP if I want, which I do. I love being in the costume shop. I'd spend all day there if pesky classes and UROP and work and meetings didn't keep interfering. Maybe I really should chuck the whole bio thing and be a costume designer. No. No, no no no, I shouldn't. Bad idea, bad thought. Hobbies have a nasty tendency to stop being fun when they aren't hobbies anymore.

In my state of grad-school procrastination, went back and read the first messages on the AtE list, from May 2001. (First off, I can't believe this story's been going on for a year and half.) It was...weird. I joined two months after the list started so I had no idea how it had begun at first. Something of a shock to see it wasn't always the lovey-dovey list we have now. So, so strange to see the big names of the Other Side reading and criticizing the story. And I do mean criticizing. They'd all left by the time I joined, it seems. *shakes head* Sometimes I'm very glad I'm so uninvolved in HP fandom. For a simple children's series, it generates some terribly serious drama.

Chorallaries concert last night. Fricking fantastic. Best 'llaries concert I can remember. Amy, babe, you rule.

Yeah, so I was going to go fabric shopping with Megan and ET people? Right.

We were all five of us supposed to meet at the Student Center at 4. But two of the people couldn't be bothered to actually show up, so after a half-hour of trying to figure out where they were, we spent an hour in the car picking them up from ET and Arlington. We finally got on the road-- five of us squished into a Corrolla-- and got to Fabric Place at 6 pm. Guess when they close on Saturdays. That's right, 6 pm. So we turned around and went home. And at 7 pm, fully 3 hours after we were supposed to start out, after TWO AND A HALF HOURS in this cramped car, I'm back home with NOTHING to show for the three hours, feeling really angry and carsick enough to not want to eat at 5W Thanksgiving.

Fuck. I'm really angry.
