Well. That was an experience.
Mar. 8th, 2003 08:34 pmThis afternoon Rogue and I drove up Rt 1 to Saugus-- he'd bought a Tivo off of reuse-sell and we were meeting the seller at the Joann's on Rt 1. On the way, he noticed that his battery and headlights dashboard lights kept coming on, but nothing seemed to be wrong. So we shrugged and kept on going. The Tivo was purchased successfully, and I got to browse a bit in Joann's. Then we had dinner at Fuddrucker's.
Then we tried to drive home. We'd barely gotten onto Rt 1 southbound when all the interior lights in the car started dying, then the CD player, then the headlights. And then the engine stopped running. We were able to pull over and coast into the entrance to Bernie & Phyl's furniture, where we called AAA. The tow-truck driver came very promptly, and turned out to be a girl! She was very nice, if a bit annoying (VERY heavy Bahstahn accent) and drove us to the car place Rogue goes in Somerville, then dropped me off at the T. I've never ridden in a tow truck before.
Current theory is that the alternator went boom. We'll see though. Here's hoping it can be fixed quickly and not too expensively.
Onto other topics, Bad Taste is tonight, at its new, earlier, suckier starting time. On the plus side, I get in early. :)
Also, Farscape last night was once again "disturbing but great." Lots of characters acting in rather unpredictable ways, most especially Aeryn. Baddie says to John, who's just strolled into an enemy base with a nuclear bomb strapped to his chest, "You're insane!" Aeryn replies, "Isn't it fun?" Um, who are you, and what have you done with Aeryn Sun? (Side note, on pretty much any show but Farscape, this would be a rhetorical question. But after BHTB...anyway.) It's pretty clear that the events of the last few eps have wreaked havoc with Aeryn's psyche. And I think it's a damn shame that we've only got two more episodes to see where her character is going. Of everyone on Moya, Aeryn's the one who's changed the most since the beginning, and her journey is, for me, a very central part of the show. And now I'm starting to ramble...ah well.
Bad Taste soon. Too bad my disc gun broke last year. I'll just have to snitch some Athena paper on my way.
