Of Earth2, GH, and the Enderverse

Now that Rogue and I are mostly unpacked, I've been watching some of my old, old tapes from the days when I used to tape *everything.* I have 24 ancient tapes full of X-Files, Sliders, Friends, Earth2, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, movies, etc etc etc-- and in no particular order. For example, here's the tape I was watching last night:
Earth2: "Redemption"
Earth2: "Moon Cross"
Power Rangers: the second half of "The Green Candle, Part 1" and all of "The Green Candle, part 2"
X-Files: "Kitsenugari"
all but the first 15 minutes of "It Could Happen to You," taped off of TV
Earth2: "Better Living Through Morganite, Part 1"
GH: About 10 minutes from...um...1998? Featuring L&L2's first kiss, with REAL LUCKY! (Oh JJ, I miss you so! [Er, that'd be Jonathan Jackson, not JJ Abrams. Just to have that straight.])
So yeah, my tapes are kinda whacked out. But I have a little notebook that tells me what's on each one. Unfortunately, I think some of my tapes are still in Maryland, including the one that's got the week from Days where Lucas finds out he's Will's father. >:(
So anyway, Earth2. I haven't got all the episodes on tape, but I have a bunch, and I've been rewatching starting with "Water." (Ooohhhh, such a good ep! Though I admit to FFing Julia and Reilly-- I love Terry O'Quinn, but that whole subplot really bored me. Yes, I know, I'm a terrible person.) I think it's a bit like Farscape in how very *different* it was from everything else. And as we all know, TV shows that are "different" are risks, and don't tend to do as well. But we got one season, and it was good, and D&D 4-EVAH!!!!111one!!! (Sorry, that just slipped out there.) Years ago, I went E2 fic-hunting and found some decent stuff, which is still on my computer, having been transferred from hard drive to hard drive as I moved computers. Wish there was more out there, but that's often what happens with a small fandom from a dead show.
I wasn't expecting to run across that old GH clip, but it made me all nostalgic. I loved the original L&L2 with all my heart. They got me started watching the show. They were so sweet, and beautiful, and touching-- and okay, maybe today the sweetness of it all would make me gag, but I'm not so sure. There's something about Jonathan Jackson where you just-- believe him, in his roles. Amazing to think where Liz is on GH today, compared to where she was five years ago. Poor Liz.
Enderverse-- I bought Shadow Puppets yesterday and read most of it. I skipped a few of the Peter bits (cause I really don't like him) in my rush to get to the end, but I'll go back and reread. It was pretty good, if a little out of left field. The ending seemed pretty open, like there ought to be another sequel. Anyone know if there's gonna be one?
I should stop writing and go home. More laundry awaits.
Dude. I really need a D&D icon.
