So for once, the boys weren't gaming tonight, so Rogue and I went to see The Longest Yard, because hey, Chris Rock and Adam Sandler, sounds like fun.
It was awesome. I haven't had that much fun at a movie since Pirates of the Caribbean. I'm sure if you've seen and loved the original, then you'll likely think this one is horrendous, but if you don't go in expecting great cinema and just want to have a good time then you'll likely do fine. It's even absent most of the annoying crap that keeps me from really enjoying most Adam Sandler movies. The football players and pro wrestlers were by and large awesomely hilarious.
Yeah, the movie's predictable. Yeah, I called almost every plot "twist" before it happened. And yeah, there were some parts I could do without. But I didn't care, because I was too busy laughing. It was nice to just have fun at a movie, after Serenity, Ep3, Sin City, Constantine...anyway. The film ain't going to win any awards, but it was totally worth my $10.
