jaina: (bsg - cally squee!)
Lot of stuff's been going on lately. First off, thank you so much to everyone who left good wishes on my last post. Y'all are awesome. :)

Sweeney ended last night with a bang; both the Friday and Saturday performances sold out and I've heard nothing but good things from the folks who saw it. We run-crew types all wore Jayne hats for the intermission set change on the last two nights, which got a fun reaction from the orchestra and some audience members. I helped [livejournal.com profile] lurknomore cook for the strike party, along with [livejournal.com profile] carbon_scoring, [livejournal.com profile] collamalleen, and Dana. Never again will we use the Talbot kitchen because OMGROACHESGROSS. But I cooked eight pounds of bacon all by myself. It was kind of fun.

Speaking of Jayne hats, I finally have a picture of my baby!Jayne hat worn by an actual baby:

That's Nicholas Edward, my babysitting/mother's-helper charge. Isn't he the cutest thing ever? I think he might have a slightly worrisome attraction to Hilary Duff, though.

Today was, yes, my birthday. It's [livejournal.com profile] julietvalcouer's, too. Happy birthday, Jennifer! [livejournal.com profile] carbon_scoring and [livejournal.com profile] collamalleen were lovely and took me to lunch at Bertucci's. Mmmm, Bertucci's. Then we went to Goodwill and I got four new work-type skirts because I have a new job starting tomorrow! It's through the temp agency; I'm going to be a receptionist at a small biotech company in Cambridge for about a month. I have no idea what it's going to be like, but it's a job and I'm grateful for it.

And the big event-- tonight was read-through for Star Wars. This show is going to be SO AWESOME. The energy and excitement in the room were palpable, and it was so great to see so many people laughing and clapping and enjoying themselves. We have such a rockstar cast. Bill's Emperor is creepy beyond words, Kenny's Yoda sent us all into hysterics, Bonk's Chewbacca jazz hands are hilarious even without the costume...it just goes on and on. And it was so cool to finally get to read through Empire and Jedi-- I can't wait to start real rehearsals! Also there was a cake and everyone sang me happy birthday. It cracked me up that the candles we had in the office were the ones we'd used on my 21st birthday cake!

So yeah, life's good. I'm pretty busy, but it's the good kind of busy. And it's just lovely to be back with all the people I'd missed so desperately while we were gone. I love you all!
