Just back from the preview screening of tomorrow's BSG episode, "Eye of Jupiter." They way, way underestimated turnout-- the original line easily had enough people to fill the one theater four times over. We weren't far enough up in line to get into the first screening, since we had to drive up in rush hour traffic and didn't get there till 6:30, but they added a repeat screening at 9 pm and we (myself, [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue, [livejournal.com profile] jawajames, and Whitney) got into that one easily.

Not going to talk about the episode here, cause damn, it's past midnight, we (and by "we" I mean [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue) drove for almost five hours today to see a forty-five minute episode of a TV show that's going to air tomorrow anyway. Why did we do that again? Oh, right, cause it was good fannish fun. :) If you want a SUPER-SPOILERY recap of the episode, head on over to [livejournal.com profile] wisteria_'s journal entry here (OMG SPOILERS BEWARE).

But! The really, really cool part was that they had five of the show writers at the screening, including the guy who wrote this particular episode, and they very kindly did a lengthy Q&A afterwards. Mindful of my prior dumbassness when I got to ask Joss a question at the Riverside Serenity screening, I rehearsed my phrasing a whole bunch mentally before I put my hand up. I asked Mark Verheiden, the episode's writer, which scene he'd found hardest to write, and I got a "good question!" response from the writers, which was yay. He said none of them had been particularly hard, but the most fun to write was the scene where Baltar comes back on Galactica and acts like a grade-schooler who's been sent to the principal's office. Lots of other interesting questions too, and some not-so-interesting, and hopefully I can write those up tomorrow when I'm not dead tired. Okay, now I'm going to bed.
