Dragon*Con Monday

jainaWhoops, *very* late posting this one. But this is the end, I swears!
We tried to be up in time for the Farscape panel at 10 am, but got there a bit late. Our costumes for the day were thrown-together versions of Rick Castle and Kate Beckett, from Castle-- Rogue’s idea. :D We had no idea if anyone would recognize us, but quite a few people did, so yay! I was keeping count for awhile, but once it got into the double digits I stopped. ("I have dozens of loyal fans! Baker's dozens!")
The Farscape panel was *wonderful*-- a great way to end the con. It was just Ben, Claudia, and Lani, and you could tell they were so at ease and happy to be there talking Farscape with us. Ben didn’t want to leave at the end: “It has *not* been five minutes!” (We came home from D*C and started watching our DVDs again. Ohhhhh, *Farscape.*) Things I scribbled down from the panel:
- Claudia to Ben: “Go put on some tights, honey, and a codpiece.” (I think this was a discussion about doing Shakespeare or something.)
- Ben made a reference to “Quit promptin’ me, woman!” which I just cannot hear him say too many times
- What will it take to get more Farscape? An economic recovery.
- Claudia on the comic books: “Have you read them? It’s not good, you should see what they do to our baby.”
- Claudia got a text message from one of Ben’s kids asking for beta codes to Uncharted 2, which she did VA work for
After the panel, I forget the exact order of things, but we popped down to see Aaron at his writing seminar for just a bit, and went over to the food court to say goodbye to a bunch of people from our crew who had gathered for lunch. We saw Michelle and Sonia, too. And we went back up to our room to finish the last of the packing and haul our bags downstairs to bag check, where they were now on their third satellite storage location.
After that it was over to the writing track room (getting lost several times in the process), where we caught the end of a panel and met up with Tim and Anna afterward (best hugs ever!), and then the four of us made our way back across the Hyatt to Aaron and Mike’s last seminar to join up with them for lunch. Janine was there too and she walked partway to the food court with us, so we had a nice goodbye with her. She had totally lost her voice by then, poor baby! Lunch was awesome, although Moe’s was closed for Labor Day (boooo) so we ate Chick-Fil-A again. (Oh darn.) I’m really really glad we were able to get together, because otherwise we wouldn’t have seen them the whole con.
And then bang, it was after 3 and we needed to get to the airport, so we collected our bags and hopped on MARTA. Ended up sitting/standing near a group of steampunk folks (although they were in civvies) and listening to them discuss their plans for next year. It’s not a segment of costuming that I’ve ever been involved in, so it was fun to hear their perspectives. Flights home went smoothly (Rogue was not the only person on our flight wearing a giant hat), luggage arrived unscathed, and that was the end of D*C 2009! *sobs*

Things to do next year:
- SLEEP the week before con! (ha)
- Watch DCTV while we're in the room
- Make a list of people I want to be sure I meet up with (and get their phone numbers)
- Remember to hand out my Moo cards!
- Spend more time working out makeup and hair for each costume
- Practice posing for the camera in each costume

We were at many of the same panels and I still managed to only see you once! (And I only saw Aaron, Mike, Tim and Anna once, too. ::pout::)
I want to go back to Dragon*Con now. Can we?
They come in thirteens.
