jainaSynchro nationals: I'm signed up for Wednesday-Friday 1-5 pm and Saturday 1-9 pm, as a Team Guide. Which basically means that when a team has either a practice or competition slot on the ice, I meet them at Registration and guide them through the whole process: take them to the dressing room, then take them to the ice, wait while they practice/compete, take them to pictures or whatever, back to the dressing room, and finally back up to Registration. Then I pick up my next team and go through all of it again. Yay! Hopefully one of my teams will be the Metroliners (my old team).
Tim Zahn was here last night, signing at a local bookstore (he's on his promo tour for Survivor's Quest). Debby, Dan, Rogue, and I took him to Rock Bottom for dinner beforehand (and we actually did take him to dinner, as opposed to Mike who insisted on paying for the whole thing himself!). Good dinner and good company, only my mac 'n cheese was too spicy! The booksigning was fun; he talked for a bit about his writing, took a few questions (thankfully only one *really* obnoxious fanboy started in on "I have a two-part question..."), then one of the SDSWS guys emceed trivia, where Debby, Rogue, and I all won T-shirts. Lots of costumed folks from the 501st and Rebel Legion, overall quite a large crowd. And Tim told me again that I give good hugs. :)
I've decided that I'm going to enter my Arwen Chase dress in the Con-Dor masquerade in two weeks, as it's the only costume I've made and not yet entered in a contest. Also, it gives me the kick in the pants I need to finish all the little things I've been meaning to fix on the dress (bodice lining, front closure, underskirt...). I wouldn't be going to this con at all probably, except I won a free membership as one of my prizes from the Comic-Con masquerade.
On Angel being cancelled: I can't say I'm all that surprised. I'm not even really that disappointed. As a Cordy Fan First (oh god, SZ terminology is seeping into my thoughts about other fandoms!) this season's held little appeal for me, except of course for the 100th. And next ep looks all right, but knowing what's going to happen in the ep after that...bleah. All I can say is, I hope SMG still refuses to come back for the finale. Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease, it's all I ask. Let's have the show end on its own terms, aight?
