I sewed tonight! Crazy talk, I know, but it's true! SDCC is LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS AWAY OH GOD and there is waaaaay too much to get done. And I'm out of black thread. How is that possible? I'm forever buying white and black thread when it's on sale. Maybe it's like my seam rippers, and socks in a dryer-- they just disappear through a rip in space/time and you never see them again.

This seems to happen with my measuring tape. When I need it, or my ruler, it's GONE half of the time.

Look at it this way...at least you're not MOVING between now and SDCC. That gets to be my fun and joy. SO wanna work on our stuff. So CAN'T because there's stuff to pack and move and unpack and GAAAAAAH!

But I will has a sewing room, and this is so much of Win it is not funny.

Yes! And I have FOUR measuring tapes! I had three plastic 18" rulers and I'm down to one-- no clue where the others disappeared to. Oooh, note to self, buy an 18" ruler at Jo Ann today...

But your moving will be AWESOME in the end because your new place is 1000x awesomer than your old one (it seems). Yay for sewing rooms!

I'd love to see this alternate dimension of socks, seam rippers, and missing thread. It's bound to have many useful things in it!

I thought having my own washer and dryer would solve the sock problem. It doesn't. Bah.

Anyway, four months isn't so bad! You can do it! Just think of me--I have less than 3 weeks till costume con, a month after that or so a random 1850s local event, then I need two more dresses for Williamsburg in 2 1/2 months then Costume College is in three months. I'm only doing two new dresses for that though, but they're two that should be a lot of work. (see icon for what I'm in for for trim on one of the dresses)

Does that make four months sound better?

And wait--master's thesis in that time too! Don't forget that :)

Anyway, yes, not only do I lose black thread, seam rippers, and measuring tapes, I also lose scissors. Large fabric-cutting scissors. And they often go missing while I am sitting in the middle of the room cutting things out. It must happen to my mom, too, for she regularly buys scissors in bulk for both of us, and yet I STILL can never find any scissors!

Somewhere there must be some evil craft gnomes who are laughing at us all!

See it's not the sewing so much that I'm worried about, it's the skit on top of the sewing. And the herding-cats aspect of having 15 castmembers. Aaaaaagh I just freaked myself out again!

I usually keep track of my fabric scissors pretty well, it's the non-fabric scissors that keep disappearing on me. I'll need to cut something that I *don't* want to use my nice scissors on, and then those are all I can find!

Your "situation" with non-fabric scissors has haunted you for a very long time. Scissors used to keep disappearing out of the desk drawer at home all the time, and I kept having to buy new ones, until you headed off to MIT. :-)

Sort of, indeed, since I think there is a pair with a black square on the handle that made it to San Diego :-)
