i feel pretttyyyyyyyyyyyy
Jun. 30th, 2004 09:09 amSaw the Spider-Man 2 midnight showing last night. AWE. SOME.
And now, pictures. They are pictures of a possible wedding dress and I would really like y'all's honest opinions. If you like it, say so, if you don't like it, definitely say so.
This was just a quick photoshoot outside, no real prep, so kindly ignore the socks, sandals, and visible bra. If I do end up using this dress, I would probably get a light crinoline to go under it-- just something to give the skirt its proper fullness, not a big floofy thing. Also, I'm thinking I would convert the neckline to a V-shape, because that high square neckline really doesn't do much for me, and because I have a pendant necklace I want to wear at my wedding. Oh also, I'm contemplating removing the buttbow. It's not really a terrible specimen, but I'm not sure I like it. So. Pictures.

And here's a very crudely Photoshopped pic of what a V-neckline might look like:

Opinions are very, very welcome. The material, for those curious, is a thick matte poly satin, lined in acetate. Not the nicest stuff ever, but no worse than many bridal dresses, and it's actually pretty well-constructed-- lined, serged seams, good sturdy zipper.

Date: 2004-06-30 09:41 am (UTC)I like the back detail a lot - the lacing and the bow are quite pretty.
However, I don't care for the waistline - it seems not very flattering on you. I thin a princess would be prettier; on this dress I might also like it better if the waistline were a bit higher? I don't know...
have you punted the dress idea on your website?

Date: 2004-06-30 09:49 am (UTC)I haven't abandoned making my dress, it's just I already have this dress on hand. And not making my own dress would save *so* much time and stress. But I don't just want to settle, you know?

Date: 2004-06-30 11:05 am (UTC)Definitely a crinoline - I could mail you mine (it was the smallest amount of fluff I could find, so I'm not sure it would be enough to fluff the dress and emphasize your waist).

Date: 2004-06-30 12:39 pm (UTC)To be honest, the one you posted pix of earlier? the Pshop? Much more becoming style. But it might just be me- I liked the sleeves. :)

Date: 2004-06-30 01:34 pm (UTC)Personally, I'm not crazy about the dress. It looks a little too frumpy and has a lot of puckers along the seams of the bodice (which could just be the material, I guess). If you added the sheer sleeves from your ideal dress, it could work, however.
In the end, though, it comes down to whether you're happy with the dress (w/alterations, of course), in lieu of one you made yourself. And if you are, that's all that matters. :)

Date: 2004-07-01 06:37 am (UTC)I don't know much about wedding dresses... was the hem just tacked up? Is that something they do so they can then hem it to the brides height later? I am going to assume that's the case and that noone would actually produce a wedding dress with this shoddy of a hem. The technical sewer in me is cringing when looking at it.
And, unrealted to the dress but awesome for the bride, you have the prettiest hair EVER by the way.
It's Steph - just seeing the dress now
Date: 2004-08-02 02:49 pm (UTC)Neckline - I really like the V neckline on you, so whatever dress choice you make, especially if you're wearing a pendant necklace - I'd say stick with the v-neck
bodice - is great other than the and I like the lattice back - the bow for me could go either way, it just depends on what other details you're planning on for the dress and what emphasis you want - I think more emphasis would be on your back without it as it draws attention since it's sizable - but it's not puffy either for a back bow
skirt line - depends on the effect that you want - if you want a bodice separate from skirt feel with the defined waistline, then I would say go for a decent underskirt to make the skirt full enough to give that kind of definition - and that would show in pictures too - if you don't want that kind of definition, I'm not sure this is the right skirt shape for you - the inverted pleats give fullness to the bottom of the dress (usually to hide butts and thighs, neither of which you should be hiding!!!) and take away from a body skimming delicate a-line type style that you showed before - I think it could work - if it's the look you want
and if you want to borrow the underskirt from my wedding gown you're more than happy too - it's pretty full for that defined waistline effect
Steph %)
