YEAH! Emmy noms are up and MARISKA GOT A NOM! About damn time!

She's up against Jen Garner and Amber Tamblyn, which I am happy about as I think both are excellent actresses. Oh, and those chicks from The Sopranos and The West Wing. I'm sure one of *them* will actually be the winner, but whatever.

And what the hell is up with all the Alias noms? Did the Emmy people miss the fact that even the creator acknowledged that the show sucked this year? (Okay, Victor Garber deserves a nom no matter how bad the show gets. But still.) At least there weren't any writing noms.

ETA: If Scot and Brandon don't stop arguing (and by arguing I mean yelling) about politics and terrorism I'm going to kill them BOTH DED OMG.

Well, they nominated Alias for a bunch less than the previous two years, so the drop in quality is being noticed. Really, I can't fault them too much here -- it's getting nominated mostly in categories like cinematography, stunts, hairstyling, etc. which is, simply put, not where the drop in quality has come from.

As for writing noms, it's intriguing to note that HBO was the only network nominated for writing in a drama series, and four out of the five were for Sopranos. See, people? This is what happens when you get rid of Aaron Sorkin and Joss Whedon.

I think Mariska Hargitay has more of a shot at the award than Allison Janney or Jennifer Garner this year, but realistically, Edie Falco probably has it sewn up.
