looooooost in the wilderness
Dec. 9th, 2004 12:59 pmOkay, here's the thing. I love Charlie. I loooooove and adore Charlie, and Claire, and everything related to Charlie/Claire. OTP twu wuv 4EVA, yo. However.
When the efforts to revive Charlie dragged on and on, and he still wasn't breathing, I started to think, "My God. They might actually just leave him dead. They might kill off a main character in the first half of the season." And as sad as that made me (see above re: Charlie love), I found myself really drawn to the idea. It would've been a great bit of storytelling. Not only would Jack have failed to miraculously save yet another person, but he actually would've *caused* Charlie's death because Ethan warned him to stop following. So Jack's status as Miracle Worker would've been damaged, and the reality of death on the island would have been driven home again. Damn, that would've been cool.
But no. Instead, Charlie wakes up, Jack is the hero once again, and I'm irrationally annoyed at the Lost PTB for a cop-out. At least it looks like we might have a profoundly changed Charlie from this.
I think I'll choose to believe it was the island that revived Charlie, not Jack. Actually, that leads to some interesting possibilites. Perhaps Ethan's group is not in league with the island-- maybe the island is trying to get rid of Ethan et al, and sees our crew as a way to do it. Eh?
