I'm being good and not reading any Olympics results until I watch them tonight. I fricking hate this prime-time roundup. Why can't we have daytime showings of things besides hockey and curling? (Seriously, that's all there ever is. Hockey and curling. AGH!)

[livejournal.com profile] sirrogue has been hanging all of his ship action figures (X-Wing, A-Wing, etc) from the ceiling of the second floor. It looks geekishly awesome, and yay, more shelf space! Now all we need is a filing cabinet.

And we're finally caught up to the current season of Gilmore Girls; I downloaded them all yesterday and we've watched the first three. It's very weird to have the topical references actually be, y'know, topical. Um, I don't want any spoilers, but can someone please reassure me that Rory's horrible Lindsay Lohan hair goes away? It makes me cringe. :(

Tomorrow I'm going to scrapbook with [livejournal.com profile] blusurfer! We're going to the store by her house, because neither of us ever accomplishes anything in our own home.

You know, it seems to me Roty's hair is different now then it was at the first of the season, but I could be entirely making that up... It is almost midnight, so delusions should set in anytime now...

My impression is that Rory's hair has been going through a serious melange of styles this year; hopefully you'll find one you like. :-)

Going through the episodes at such a clip, the hairstyles do mutate awfully quickly. There's a lot of "wasn't her hair red last episode?" and "ack, haircut!" going on.

I sheepishly admit to have gotten quite interested in curling. Hubby says they had a rink in college and actually participated in intramural curling. They were so serious about it that they put off the drinking until later.

To the college curling thing, I can say only "woooooooow."

[livejournal.com profile] blusurfer has a scrapbook store by her house? I'm so jealous. ; )

And any chance of getting pics of the new geekishly awesome decor?

WHOOO-HOOO!

I have the best/biggest and independently owned (not a chain store!) scrapbooking store located within less than a ten minute walk from my house. They're also the ones who sponsor the huge 24-hour scrapbooking event every October to raise money for the Susan G. Komen charity. Very cool.

Er, pictures? Possibly. Not till after I clean upstairs, though. (So messy!)

Thinking about it, I think the reason they only show hockey and curling during the day is pretty straightforward -- both sports have long matches that aren't easily condensed into the evening's 20-minute recap of an event. Watching an entire curling match is actually fairly interesting, since there's some built-in suspense as the match progresses and nears the end. But the first 20 minutes watching it is stultifying until you pick up what's going on, so you're going to lose your audience if you do it at the wrong time of day.

On the flipside, Super-G, slalom, bobsled, etc. are all quick sports that can be easily ripped into 90-second chunks, broken up with commercials, and entrants that we won't care about edited out without much worry of boring the primetime audience and causing them to check out what's happening on House. So, save the really quick, attention-grabbing sports for primetime, when competition is tough and you can edit the competition into a story.

OK, sweetie, fess up. You did the costumes for the French team, didn't you? I swear, I was having U-town flashbacks. :-)

Dude, they totally stole my idea. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

You, my darling, need bittorrent. The first thing you need is a client; I recommend Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/) for its sheer awesomeness. Then you need your actual torrents; I found http://torrentspy.com/ to be better for the earlier episodes (about 1-9ish) and http://isohunt.com/ to be better for the later ones. In both cases, just search "Gilmore Girls" and lots of stuff should pop up. I don't know if you've used bittorrent before, so let me know if you need further instruction. But that's what I used to get all 15 eps of the current season. (Make sure you have lots of space; it's about 5 gigs of video total.)
