I had a really, really good time at JadeCon this year. And I think it was because I just relaxed and didn't try to do a million things and wear multiple costumes every day. In fact, I didn't even buy a GenCon badge, I went to the floor for just an hour and a half and didn't buy anything, and the only costume I wore was in the suite on Saturday night. So mostly I just hung out with people. Nice, relaxing, wonderful hanging out. It was exactly what I needed.

I can't really even type up a proper con report. It would read mostly like "Woke up. Got dressed. Went to suite and sat there for hours talking to people. Had lunch. Talked some more." Let's see what happens if I just start typing stuff I remember:

- Rogue and I had an early Wednesday flight; we got there even before Mary, so we waited in the lobby of the Hyatt until she got there so we could go into the suite. We tried to use our router to play Diablo II together but it wasn't cooperating; grr. See, I tried to game at GenCon! I was just thwarted!

- We had dinner with the Boston types (minus Elise, sadly) on Wednesday night. It was kind of weird. But I got to talk Stargate with [livejournal.com profile] tirianmal.

- Got woken up at an eminently respectable hour (10 am) on Wednesday by [livejournal.com profile] raykel's voice. No worries though, Kelly; I needed to get up. :)

- Games Night was at Rock Bottom again, and I spent most of it chatting with [livejournal.com profile] slyvermont, [livejournal.com profile] kataline, and [livejournal.com profile] knitress. Eventually I did play a game of Kill General Jar-Jar with [livejournal.com profile] kataline, [livejournal.com profile] knitress, [livejournal.com profile] hlynn, and VJ. Nancy killed him, hurray!

- The Mustafar Meltdown is the most spectacular drink in existence.

- Never ever let [livejournal.com profile] hokie have, like, ten drinks in a row on an empty stomach. It leads to yick.

- I slept till noon on Friday. Well, with lots of interruptions. Roommates who got up at 8 am to game; what the hell is up with that? I completely missed the ROTS discussion.

- Shaun of the Dead is a funny movie. But it's got some yick. I was glad to have my knitting to occupy myself. Emperor Aaron's film is going to be cool, even if there is also yick. And the freaking Hyatt doesn't get SciFi! But we did watch some Arrested Development in the other room, hurray.

- The Harry Potter discussion on Saturday morning was very entertaining and blissfully free of 'ship bitching. The best part was the "death pool" to call who's going to bite it in book 7.

- I went to the con floor with [livejournal.com profile] slyvermont, [livejournal.com profile] kataline, and [livejournal.com profile] evilbearhunter on Saturday, and then [livejournal.com profile] kataline and [livejournal.com profile] evilbearhunter and I sat around for a really long time talking Alias and Buffy and Angel and whatever else we thought of. Summary of Angel S4: "Possessed Cordelia gives birth to Gina Torres!"

- Skating! We went skating! It was so cool! I was in my skates for two hours and I was okay! *pats skates* [livejournal.com profile] kataline, [livejournal.com profile] evilbearhunter, and [livejournal.com profile] hokie recruited me for Team Scoreboard for Survivor: Hoth. We built a Little Orange Riding Tauntaun and I actually blocked a hockey puck while blindfolded thanks to the excellent advice of [livejournal.com profile] hokie and [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue.

- I somehow ended up in the final two of Survivor:Hoth (with [livejournal.com profile] blusurfer) thanks to luck with dice-rolling and the fact that I used to do a lot of origami. [livejournal.com profile] blusurfer and I decided we should just get married and split the prize, like Rob and Amber. But she won the dice roll so she got the grand prize. I got a giant General Grievous PEZ dispenser!

- I brought my camera but took no pictures at all. Alas.

- I wore my Sith Cheerleader outfit on Saturday because I was a backup singer for [livejournal.com profile] nmissi's filk. And I finally wrote and sang "Where Have All the Jedi Gone?" which I've been wanting to write for five years. I made Yav cry. Aaron said, "You've redeemed Paula Cole." Go me.

- Met some very cool guests on Saturday night. Derek is really good at that guest-intro stuff. Met [livejournal.com profile] amberleewriter and admired her Mon Mothma costume.

- Had a largely unremarkable Sunday, except for the part where [livejournal.com profile] kataline is now my padawan. [livejournal.com profile] cyndisuesue, you're a grand-master! PG drove us and [livejournal.com profile] yav_14 to the airport because it's just her favorite place to go! We discovered that we were on the same flight as [livejournal.com profile] yav_14 to Chicago Midway so we got to stave off PCD a little longer.

And that's pretty much it. Home now. Lots of stuff to do before Sunday. Yikes!

ETA: I can't believe I forgot about singing the Strong Bad Techno song with a bunch of our guests on Saturday night! We had all the parts going, it was totally awesome.

To be fair to me, anyone + ten drinks in a row on an empty stomach = yick.

Ok, that's enough fairness.

I must object...

I was particularly amused by the drag across the floor. Three, very large guys had to figure out how to get you to the bathroom.

It was quite spectacular.

yeah - that would be us not wanting to miss CJ events and going by what others had registered for...we'll be registering in advance next time and avoiding morning slots...

I took pictures, and Chris took them with my camera, but they didnt' come out very well. Not sure if it's camera, photographers, lighting, or cheapass one-hour developing. I actually have a nice one of you, Ruby, and Caroline doing the Charlie's Angels thing on Sunday, there's a halfway decent one of you in a sit spin, and Chris got a couple decent ones of me doing a spiral. (I need to raise my leg higher but the skating leg is surprisingly straight.) Soon as I can get them scanned I'll have some up.

I am sending them to my Mom, whose scanner does not suck (unlike mine) and I will send you the Charlie's Angel pics.
