Dear mall next to my house,

Why did you close at 7 pm? You are a mall. It is a Saturday. You should be open so that I can shop after my long day of working (overtime, yay/boo) and exercising. I have Serious Shopping Needs that include cute new shoes, which you thwarted. What kind of self-respecting mall closes at 7 pm on a freaking Saturday!?

Sincerely,
Would-have-been Shopper

Dear Sears,

Why do you have to suck so bad? You were the only store that was left open, so I shopped at you. And you gave me nothing. No shoes. No jackets. No shirts. No purses. Ugly, ugly, slutty, and, oh, ugly again. Whyyyyy?

Sincerely,
Grumpy Non-Slutty Clothes Wearer

Screw it. I'm making cupcakes.

Probably because it is a holiday weekend, and service workers be people, too. (Though see how equanimous I am tomorrow if I can't get coffee. Though I'm fairly sure Shaws will be open during normal hours so I can at least get groceries.)

And, well, I found a cute raincoat at Sears here. Nothing else, but a cute raincoat. But shoes? Feh. There are few good shoes in the world.

Funny. I never got to leave early Easter eve when I worked retail!!

But I did get a cute nightgown at Sears last week, on sale even.

but cupcakes are better any old day :):)

Wow! You would probably be surprised to hear that it's normal practice in oz for all retail stores to close by 5:00pm on a Saturday. The only stores open after that are a few odd ones that just happen to be next to a cinema... but that's it.

Sorry to hear about you not being able to get cute new shoes. Shoes are important ;)

Although the mall made you sad, this entry made me happy. People should use the phrase "I shopped at you" way more often. *giggle*

I think nearly all malls close early on Saturdays these days, the reason most quoted being that it becomes a hangout for teenage delinquents and they don't want them hanging around. I think it's that the teens don't buy anything and will generally bug the heck out of the retailers (and shoppers).

As for Sears' selection...yeah, I know. There's some stuff that isn't too bad, but you have to look hard to find it. I'd rather go to JCPenney or Target and not waste the time. :)

And I wouldn't know; I went back home to Riverside for the weekend. :-p

I actually went online and checked their hours, and they close at 7 pm every Saturday! Craziness!

And they were lemon cupcakes. The very best kind!

What!? How dreadful for all of you! *g*

Normally it wouldn't be an issue because I don't usually work on Saturdays. But we're on mega-overtime right now, which I can't really argue with financially.

That makes sense. I don't really think of this mall as being the kind where annoying teenagers go, but then I don't go there all that often, despite its proximity to my house.

I just want some shoes, goddammit. Cute little wedge heels, because The Manolo (http://shoeblogs.com) said so.

I was so cracked up by this entry.

There is nothing but slutty clothes these days. I thus sympathize with you. This negative turn of fashion events is difficult for a person (i.e. myself) who doesn't even like girly clothes, much less slutty ones, yet is female sized/shaped. I'm hoping to someday get the number of Ellen's wardrobe person. She has really struck a balance there.

best,
E
