I had a bad day today. I didn't sleep well and woke up exhausted, and when I looked in the mirror I noticed I had these weird tiny red freckles, all around my eyes. They don't hurt, they don't itch, they aren't bumpy, they just look like tiny red freckles, and they're only around my eyes. And they just appeared suddenly this morning. General consensus seems to be they're itty bitty broken blood vessels from gymnastics last night, either from the fall on my head or the large amount of time I spent upside-down. So I'm not really worried about them anymore, but this morning I was pretty freaked out. And I ended up missing my bus and being a half-hour late for work.

And then I was so exhausted at work I could barely function, and so I went home early. It was a good day for that, because we had very little to do today. But I still felt bad for leaving early. And then when I got home I slept for almost four hours and I was *still* tired when I woke up.

And then we had softball. Which honestly I would have preferred not to go to, given the day I'd had, but I knew they were counting on me so I went. It was not a good game. We were playing the top team in the league (we're #2-ranked) and we actually kept it pretty close, especially given that we were one person short (we ended up losing by only three runs), but you wouldn't have known it from the way they treated the game. Is it so much to ask for at least some mutual respect? The worst moment was when we robbed one of them of a home run-- should have been a triple, runner got greedy, we got her at home-- and one of their team screamed "BULLSHIT!" at the top of his lungs and didn't even get a warning. They were all like "oh please," "nice call, ref," etc etc, being really mean about it. At that point they were up by something like six runs! We got the runner fair and square, and they'd already had a number of close calls go in their favor.

And I got put at second base with no warning. I tried hard, but I've never practiced at second, and it's a really stressful position for me. I made a lot of mistakes. I was up to bat three times and grounded out all three. The last one was a double play, in the last inning. All we had to do was get at least three runs and we could have kept going, tried to hold them, tried to tie or win. But I pretty much screwed that up. The worst of it was, I did exactly what the other team expected. I knew they thought they could get a double play off me, and I wanted to shove it in their arrogant faces. And I did exactly what they thought I would do. And then I cried about it. Stupid, crappy, weak girl player.

All in all, a really shitty first game for me. We have another one Thursday; I'm trying to decide if I want to play or just go back to scorekeeping. I wish, I really wish, we could have had a real game last week, at least ease into it, get one game under my belt, before we had to take on the best team in the league short-handed. (I'm sure last week's third baseman wishes it too-- we found out today he had a fractured skull and spent three days in the hospital.)

This is why I stopped playing competitive sports. I get so worked up about it.

So I could maybe use some cheering-up. Anyone have something funny or happy or smile-inducing they can tell me?

Softball can be really stressful - I finally stopped playing because I stopped having fun - it was just more competitive than I'm able to be! Sorry you had a crappy game!

I wouldn't worry about the blood vessel thing either - I had a really bad crying jag once, and later I had the little red blood vessel things that you described. It'll go away in a day or so.

Don't know that I have much to cheer you up - did you see that Palpatine Robot Chicken video? It cheers me up to watch. :-)

Poor thing!

I wrote a synopsis of Ep. III that might at least make you smile.

(((hugs))) Have a warm bubble bath, or possibly cookies and milk.

Heehee! Only mostly dead. *g*

I had some chocolate and that definitely helped. Cookies would've been good, too.

Thanks! Yeah, I do much better when it's just playing for fun, and no worries about standings or placements. I really do like softball! The pressure just gets to me sometimes.

That's good to know about the blood vessels. You're right, they're much better today and will probably be gone entirely by tomorrow.

Thanks for the link. :) I had seen it, but it's so damn funny! "What the hell is an Aluminum Falcon?" Hee!

And as far as cheering you up or making you smile---Hmmm...Smallville Slash Smut seems to work for me when I'm down. But then again, I'm sort of a freak. :p

Everyone has crappy days. But it's over now. Behind you and finished. Look ahead to the next one. And remember, you are beautiful, talented, funny, and intelligent. And several beautiful, talented, funny, and intelligent people love you. *hugs*

On another note, is the fatigue thing a continual problem? Might consider getting it checked out. Something other than lack of sleep might be playing a factor. *more hugs*

Aw, thank you sweetie. It's nice to be loved. *hugs back*

I think it's just I didn't catch up on my sleep enough this past weekend, like I usually do, and then I had trouble sleeping two nights in a row because I had too much on my mind. Hopefully I'll get a good rest tonight though.

When I curled up in bed last night, I mentioned to Dan that, "Caitlin is bummed about how she played in the game."

Dan: "Why?"

Me: "She doesn't thing she played very well."

Dan (suprised): "What? She played great!"

Don't let the goober team get you down. And one of your team managers thinks you did a great job. So no beating yourself up, eh?

Or I'll tickle you. Or something. :-D
