...here's my Ten Unpopular Fandom Opinions.

10. Aragorn is hot, hot, hot. Viggo is not, not, not. I don't know what it is, but I find the man himself extremely unattractive.

9. Draco Malfoy? Also not hot. He is, in fact, a total bastard. Except in Rising from Ashes, in which he's still a total bastard, but the story is so well-written and absorbing and addicting that you don't care.

8. Michael Vaughn is a p-u-t-z. S/V are boring. Boring boring boring. And they never should have been and never should be the focus of the show. Show us Syd kicking ass, please. Also more SpyDaddy. And Sark.

7. I really liked Jool. She was screechy and annoying and obnoxious, but I understood and appreciated her purpose on Moya. I think I also recognized that she's what I would be like, if I suddenly found myself in her situation. ;-)

6. All of my opinions on AtS! I think Cordy-- REAL Cordy-- was the heart and soul of that show, and losing her was something the show will never overcome. I think A/C was a great idea, executed very badly. I think the show lost its focus during the second half of S3 and has never gotten it back. I think S4 was a miserable failure.

5. I don't like slash. I never have. I have no problem with other people liking and writing slash, but it does nothing for me. To extend on that, I'll quote [livejournal.com profile] schneck128: "I believe it is possible for men to have deep and meaningful relationships with each other that don't involve sex. I do not believe all of the Fellowship Hobbits are jumping into bed with each other. And I especially don't think that orlando bloom, johnny depp, and dom monaghan are getting it on in all their free time." WORDY MCWORD.

4. Real Person fic is scary and icky. No, I'm not going to go around yelling, "It's like rape, you terrible people!", but I just have issues with writing fic about real people.

3. Tamara Braun is not Carly (on General Hospital) and never will be. Carly left with Sarah Brown, as far as I'm concerned. Sonny and Carly live in my head in a land where it is perpetually April 2000, happily frozen in time forever.

2. I love the *concept* of the serial killer storyline going on right now on Days of our Lives. I think it's an amazing, gutsy thing to kill fan favorite characters permanently, with no chance of them coming back. It could be absolutely fantastic storytelling, the whole town reeling from these killings, and the survivors banding together and rebuilding themselves after it's over. It could totally reinvigorate the show, losing old relationships, forging new ones. Unfortunately, it's being carried out with all the care and subtlety of a sledgehammer, and I hold out no hope that it will make the show any better. But the concept is brilliant.

1. Buffy should have ended at Season 5. Yeah, it would've meant losing the musical and "Tabula Rasa," but it was the right ending for the show. And we could've been spared all the unpleasantness of S6 and S7. None of the garbage that ended up happening with Spike himself, or with Spike and Buffy-- we could have ended with "I know you'll never love me. I know that I'm a monster, but you treat me like a man." And that would have been sad, but beautiful and right.

Wow. I ended up babbling a bit, there. Well. Time to get back to present-making.
