So my synchro team had its first competition on Saturday. Of course, there was no one actually competing *against* us-- but it was our first public performance. And it didn't suck too horribly! No one fell, or got turned the wrong way round, and there were no major screw-ups. Plenty of minor ones, but we have till the end of January, which is Pacific Coast sectionals, to get those straightened out. (Side note, I find it hilarious that our Seniors don't have to go to Pacific Coast, because they're the only Senior-level team *on* the Pacific Coast. They just automatically go to Nationals.) And I discovered I really need to get in shape, because I don't have the stamina to skate the program full-out, all the way through.

But I'm feeling really good about it. This is going to be good. The Team del Sol adult team only started up last year, and we still got bronze at Nationals. This year, with a professionally choreographed program, and an earlier start? I think we have a really good chance at gold. (Yeah, Hayden and Team Elan, you're goin' DOWN! *g*) And what's really cool is the top six teams from Nationals last year got invited to an *international* competition this year, in Switzerland! It was too-short notice so we won't be going (not that I could've afforded it anway), but just the fact that adult teams can compete internationally is awesome! How cool would it be to go and represent your country like that? Oh BTW Boston people, Nationals are in Lowell this year, Feb 23-26. We will more than likely be skating on Saturday late morning/early afternoon, if you're interested.

(And if you're really interested, and you have transportation and time on your hands, I highly, highly recommend volunteering for the competition. Nationals were in San Diego this year and I absolutely had the time of my life helping out. It was *so* much fun. And the incentives are better than I got-- not only do you get free admission, you get free reserved seating for the Senior free skate *and* a free competition vest if you volunteer enough hours! All we got was free admission and free food per shift we worked.)

...and on a completely different note, I need more Charlie/Claire LOSTfic like whoa. I think I've read everything that's currently out there and I want moooooooore!
