padawansguide, this is all your fault. I've fallen in love with the garden gown. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), I will never in a million years find that exact fabric, and since the fabric is what I love so much about it (okay, and the hat too), well then. No worries about having to make it.

(That hat! I adore it. I wish we all wore hats today. I would wear giant picture hats most of the time, but then sometimes I'd wear a hat like the one with the garden gown. Or, we had a couple of little vintage 40s-ish hats in the shop's stock, and oh, they were so adorable.)

and yes, that gown is gorgeous. I was not even a big fan of MA and yet Maggie's enthusiasm for it makes me want to make a gown. I am sick like that. And call me a dreamer, but I think you could find a material like that. I even want to say I have seen something similar. Of course, that could be at the fabric store I visit when I fall asleep. ;)

As far as hats, hee hee I feel the exact same way! A few years back, well several actually, I went through a hat kick. I wore them all the time and loved them. It was sort of my thing ala Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink. But the funny thing was I would get random compliments from men all the time. And I'm not talking like come ons, like older men who would get into conversations about how women never wear hats anymore. It always made me smile. :) Sigh..I miss my hats.

I'm a firm believer that people who like hats should wear hats. Who cares if it's considered fashionable or acceptable by today's standards - hats are nice and fun!

Go on - get yourself a hat and just wear it. See if you don't enjoy yourself. ; )

Ok, I won't stake my dog on it... but. I will swear that we had that exact fabric at JoAnne's Fabric. It was in the upholstery section. the flowers might have been more pinkish. On the other hand, that was three years ago... so who knows? Good luck. You would look great in it!
