Sean and I are currently busy with some projects associated with his r/c tank which need to be done by this weekend -- maybe next week we can take a crack at prototyping something with foamboard -- sound reasonable?

OH HEY. Someone made the excellent point at C4 that you and Sean need to build an R2-D2 unit! You've got all the skills and there's a healthy online contingent of R2Builders out there...and you can display it at the next Celebration!
