Finished Avatar, YESSSS. All caught up through 3x15! I like it immensely but I'm wondering if there's something wrong with me, because I'm not really shipping anyone. I mean, I think the canon ships are adorable, but that's about it. And apparently this fandom has epic ship wars. So what am I missing?

Anyway, raykel, please tell the LGBs that I love it, and thank them for recommending it to me. Who do they want to dress up as?

Avatar is a great series! I'm on 3 x15, too. :D I'm not much of a shipepr, either. I think Zuko/Mai is awesome, but I just adore the storyline and all the characters. :D

I think maybe you're missing the Crazy Wanky gene, so there's no worries there. Basically, as far as I can tell, even the canon shippers aren't that wanky. It's really the UC shippers who are absolutely Harmonian in their devotion to their ship(s). I say ship, because I think it's really the Zuko/Katara shippers who wank the hardest. Zuko/Mai and Katara/Aang shippers are pretty on the level.

But then, the substantial portion of my adoration is reserved for Azula, so what do I know?

YAY! It's a great show, no?

I don't really ship anyone, either. Well, I think Aang and Katara are cute, as are Sokka and Suki, but I don't have any burning issues about them. And Mai just ratched up about several notches after The Boiling Rock, and I'm believing Zuko/Mai more than I did. ::jaw drop:: But still, yeah. I just love the overall epic saga.

I dunno, though. Ship wars over minors squick me. I like when they have cute, innocent relationships at that age, but some of the stuff out there is just... ew. They're KIDS. I avoid HP fandom for largely the same reason.

Sadly, we're not gonna make it to ComicCon this year, but thanks for the costume offer anyway. :(

Oh, sadness! We will miss you. :( Well, if the girls want anything for Halloween or whatever, let me know. I feel a little bit too old to be doing anything from Avatar for myself, so I'll live vicariously through your kids. *g*

I'm wearied of ship wars in general-- what's the point, anyway? fandom (usually) doesn't decide the "winner"-- but I was more just surprised that I didn't have any strong feelings for any one ship or another. That's usually the first thing I latch on to, ever since I was a wee fannish child. But here, I just love everyone. I want to hug them all and then have them go gallivanting off on hilarious adventures.

The reason we're not coming to ComicCon is that we are going to be in Carlsbad at my mom's boss's beach house from June 8 - 15. We'll have to have all of you SD Jaders over one of those days! :)

I haven't seen the show, so I don't know exactly what kind of scar you are looking for, but you can get scarring liquid for standard wound scars (like my Barbossa eye scar) that's cheap and easy. It comes in a bottle like nail polish, complete with brush attached to the inside of the cap. Paint in on in the shape of the scar and let dry. :)

I know pretty much nothing about Avatar except that I have decided to ship Katara/Aang because their ship name is KATAANG, the most excellent ship name ever. My friend Hannah ships Zutara (I don't really know what that is) and shakes her head at me. But... but... KATAANG. It's like superhero spatulas! I just want to run around shouting it.

YAY isn't Avatar amazing? I'm the same way, shipless. I like everybody in the show, so I can see them all happy with each other. The only place I get dramalicious about ships is Harry Potter. I hate Ron/Hermione with a passion. Snape/Hermione plox! Or even Harry/Hermione, or Viktor/Hermione, or seriously ANYTHING but Ron!

I pretty much echo Kelly in saying that shipping minors squicks me out--I'd have to either age them up to justify it, or make it the tamest, most innocent shipping ever. And even then, I wouldn't be all 'rawr OTP forever' because they're still kids, for heaven's sake. I think that's why the idea of shipping Aang or Toph with anyone bugs me, because they're twelve. However, it seems like they marry people off young in Avatar, so for a couple like Sokka and Suki, there's a chance that they might end up married after all.

FWIW, I like the idea of Zutara (when they're older) mainly because I seem to like the former-enemies-who-fall-for-each-other thing, as with Luke/Mara and Buffy/Spike. But I also adore Aang, and hate the whole Kataang vs. Zutara (vs. Maiko) shipping crap in the fandom, because it's just a show and we should really just relax. For me, shipping is tertiary when it comes to the main story, the action and the characters. I'd rather see awesome fight sequences or serious character moments.

I was going to make some sort of comment about "How much time have Zuko and Katara even spent around each other?" but then I realized that was pretty hypocritical, given some of my ships.

The twelve-year-old thing doesn't so much bug me because I remember being twelve and having The Most Gigantic Crush of My Liiiiiiiife, so I sort of see it that way, you know? They're all just kind of adorable. Mostly I just want everyone to interact with everyone else. I love the current supersized crew (gaang?) we have right now.
