Things that are the best ever:

When your show puts your OTP ON A PLANE for an episode.

I feel that this has yet to result in a non-stellar hour of television:
"Airborne"
"The Passenger in the Oven"
and now "Jet Lag"

I NEED MORE OF THESE YOU GUYS.
ETA: HOLY SHIT I NEED CASTLE AND BECKETT ON A PLANE. I NEED THIS YESTERDAY.

I cannot decide if the writers are really, honest to god, going to go through with Tony/Ziva and rule #12 be damned, are just screwing with us (DAMN YOU WRITERS), or if they ARE and therefore they're planning to kill one of them.

And of COURSE Tony saw Twilight and is team Edward (I find it questionable that he'd read the books.) Ye gods.

Though if we now get "Paris Flashbacks" of T/Z instead of G/J, I may have to scream. (If we get BOTH, I will scream.)

I am holding out no hope because I don't trust the NCIS writers at all. So I can be pleasantly surprised if they actually go through with something and carry it off. If they have to kill one of them it had goddamn well better be Tony, because I'm sick of the show killing its girls. (I know it was Sasha Alexander's choice to leave-- HEY HOW'S THAT WORKING OUT FOR YOU, SASHA?)

Well, according to David Bellesario's commentary on "Kill Ari" Sasha's had a baby now and is mommy-ing, so...to be honest, I like Ziva better anyway. In retrospect Kate comes across as something of a beyotch at times.

I can't quite see how they'd pull off a death of either one, though, without it seeming very...anticlimactic. They've BOTH had death scares in the past. I would actually kind of like if it was all kind of..just there. In the background, they have a thing, but it's not a big deal.

Oh cool, good for her then. She guested on House the other week and I was like WHY IS KATE BLONDE!? I agree though, we like Ziva way better. Kate was brittle and frosty in a way that Ziva isn't.

I would love it if it was just an accepted background thing. I really don't think it would be that hard to pull off! Apparently TV writers think differently than me...

LOL, I can't imagine her as a blonde! I would think if she wanted to do the family/work thing not being a regular on a series was probably better--though that was a REALLY final way to remove the character.

I think TV Tropes is probably onto it with the "Viewers are Morons" trope. Producers think that unless everything is spelled out in ten-foot high letters we just won't get it. But I can hope. NCIS has done subtle in the past.

Yes, I too am perplexed as to whether this was hint: something actually happened or hint: yes, we the writers are SO yanking your chain for our amusement. Either way, it was still a fun episode... The "Team Edward" remark - coming in at a perfectly played team moment between him and Ziva, by the way - the continual denial - the continual shared LOOKS! Guh, and I'm not even a diehard shipper for these two.

I'm basically not getting too excited about anything because I trust the NCIS writers about as far as I can throw all of them at once. So I just kind of take each ep as it comes, and this one was all kinds of adorable. :D

Oh they were so very cute, and it came out of nowhere, too. Damn Rule #12!

Yes, and a welcome change from last season where they were just being cruel to each other instead of fun and banter-y.

I cracked up and fell off the sofa at the "Team Edward." I figured Tony wouldn't be Team Jacob. But yes, I do so love plane episodes--and my mother actually called me after the show ended to go "did they get together...is that what they're implying?"

Darned #12. Darned Moonlighting syndrome. Give me a good writer and I'll show you how OTP's can work--TOGETHER. (Sorry, on a rant there)

But it was a fun episode, I enjoyed it!

UGH, LET ME JOIN YOU ON YOUR RANT. Because an OTP getting together does NOT have to mean the death of a show! If I have to hear one more person cite "Moonlighting"-- GRRR!!! It is more than possible-- it is quite delightful actually-- to have characters in a stable relationship on a TV show and still have them be interesting and funny and adorable. Sometimes I really think I should give up shipping the main pairings and just go with the beta couples (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BetaCouple) because at least they have a chance of actually getting together ever.

It did take me a sec at the end to figure out what they were implying-- and then I was like !!!!!!!!!!! DID THEY REALLY JUST GO THERE!?

Also, MORE SHOWS NEED TO HAVE PLANE EPISODES. Leverage had one! I should add that to the list.

People also forget that the death of Moonlighting wasn't just getting the two characters together. At the same time there was a writer's strike and ensuing production problems resulting in viewers never knowing when a new episode was going to appear, a lead actor who was more focused on his movie career than television, two leads who didn't get along off-set, and a pregnancy that required the lead actress to disappear for a third of a season. That show was, frankly, doomed.

See, exactly. Everyone ignores all the other stuff and zeroes in on the characters-getting-together part. And so instead, we get season after season of increasingly ridiculous will-they-or-won't-they which I think is often *more* damaging to a show than deciding one way or the other.
