Evan Lysacek takes the ice, arms raised.

Loved the men's short tonight, y'all. Too bad I had class and couldn't watch/chat live. Some serious highs and serious lows. Still hate Plushenko.

Date: 2010-02-18 06:32 pm (UTC)And now I'm biting my nails because Takahashi wants to put in a quad. NO, YOU FOOL! Though, if he DOES manage to land it, and skates the rest of the program like he did his short, I will be first in line to burn the judges if they put Plushenko ahead of him.
Though my idea scenario is Plushy crashes and burns, Evan wins with a lovely clean program (where did that clean 3a entry come from?), Takahashi takes silver, and Oda, Lambiel, or Weir sneaks in for bronze. (Johnny medaling would take a mathematically miracle, but it could happen if Plushy, Oda, and Lambiel all bomb horribly.)

Date: 2010-02-17 08:51 pm (UTC)I kind of like the arrogant bastard Plushenko. He does it so well. ;-)
But I also like Lysacek, and the Japanese man in the running, too.
It will be an interesting show down, and a nail biter... I hope NONE of them falls. I hate watching them fall.

Date: 2010-02-18 07:39 am (UTC)I want everyone to skate clean! Much more fun that way. I totally love Daisuke (the Japanese guy). He has such lovely flow!

Date: 2010-02-18 07:02 pm (UTC)They're all so close it will be a race tonight.
Daisuke Takahashi was smoking on that ice, and his flow was indeed very fine.
Evan Lysacek was compelling and emotionally engaging on the ice, from start to finish. And I found his grace in the interview after to be a refreshing contrast to Plushenko's bravado.
Plushenko seems to annoy a lot of people. I get the impression he does it on purpose, that he likes being "the bad guy." Maybe for him that works like fuel to his fire. I find his persona is entertaining. He did say in the interview before the skating that "if he doesn't win" he still has won olympic gold, and no one can take that away. That, to me, was his way of saying he realizes there are competitors who are well capable of competing against him and winning.
And indeed there are.
I know I'm an outsider when it comes to actually liking Plushenko...
I will continue to hope none of them falls, and that the judges do their jobs fairly, etc...
