I'm so excited I could burst!!!! Apparently, in order to encourage collegiate synchro, the USFSA is allowing 'regional' collegiate teams, where skaters from various colleges in the same area can make up one collegiate team. Leticia, a student at Berklee (whom, incidentally, I skated with on the Chesapeake Stars almost 10 years ago) is trying to put together a Boston regional team this year. I really really hope we can pull this off-- if we can, it will be amazing! A real coach, a real team, competing in Collegiate-- with the chance to go to Nationals! The only thing that stops me up short is the money. Since we're going to be from a bunch of different schools, it'll probably be tough to get any kind of funding from and of the colleges. But I know it will all be worth it! I *so* hope we can find enough people!

I've also been checking out skating in general and synchro specifically in San Diego. It doesn't look like there's much in the way of rinks (unsurprising, it's perpetually summer there) but they do have an excellent synchro program, Team Del Sol. They have a senior team, but I'm really going to need to work hard and test up on my Moves in the Field if I want to even have a chance of making the team. And their practice times are horrendous-- 4 to 6 in the morning! The things we do for our sports...
