Way back in the day, when we were all still undergrads, mary_linton briefly broke up with portnoyslp and started dating this guy named Brian. (I think she met him doing LSC?) And they dated for a while, and then they broke up and she got back together with portnoyslp and married him - but she and Brian stayed good friends, and Brian and I got to be friends while I dated pretty much everyone else on the planet.
And then Brian graduated and moved to Switzerland, but we kept in touch over email. And eventually I stopped dating everyone on the planet, and I got very depressed about a bunch of stuff. And Brian sent me a big check, and said "Do whatever you want with this. Come visit me, pay bills, whatever. You're too stressed." And I, silly obtuse girl, took the check and paid my rent and went on vacation to Honduras with another guy and got engaged to him. And married him, and moved back to CA, and then he decided he didn't want to be married to me anymore, and I fell apart and moved back to Boston.
And lovely portnoyslp and mary_linton took me in, and I loved with them for 6 months while I got my head back on straight. And for some reason (mostly because he's an excellent person), Brian was still speaking to me. And one day in the spring, mary_linton called Brian and said "Kimmerie is blue, you should call her." And instead he got on a plane and came out to visit, and took me to the ballet,

and the rest is history. :)
