Oct. 12th, 2003 11:18 pmThey are trying SO HARD to make us hate Lauren! Lord Almighty, before the season premiere JJ was going on and on about "giving Melissa George a chance, wait till you see the show"-- and then when we finally do meet her, she insults our dear Sydney to high heaven. (Not that I think she was entirely off base.) Could the deck *be* any more stacked against the character of Lauren Reed? (And what the hell is up with her eyebrows?)
Just for that, I'm going to love her. I'm going to love her *so* much it'll make everyone around me nauseated. Because I refuse to cave to what they want me to do.
And oh my goodness, I love me some Weiss. He ROCKS ROCKS ROCKS. Syd needs someone to lean on and I'm *so* glad he's there. I knew, after Syd talked about her first-ed Alice in Wonderland, that Weiss was going to get her another copy. Good boy, Weiss. You get a cookie. And hopefully some nookie. *eg*
Not enough Sark in this ep, and no face-to-face Sarkney interaction, but at least he was in a tux. Yummmm. And yes, Syd, we *know* you want to grab Sark. Hehehehehehe. Dirty dirty mind!

Date: 2003-10-13 07:10 am (UTC)Lauren. Lauren Lauren Lauren. Part of me likes her- she was dead right about Syd being a brat and not listening to people who have been around the past two years. And damn straight she shouldn't feel guilty or bad that she remembers the past 24 months (24-- Ooo! Jack Bauer crossover!!!). As for Vaughn, argh, what a wishy washy wuss. I can't believe I liked him last season the way he's going this season. I find it kinda funny though how they are implying all this history between Vaughn and Syd and they worked together what, a year barely? Lauren and Vaughn should have more history than they did.
Sark! Love the Sark. Do want Sark to grow his hair out a bit more. I miss the Eurotrash looking Sark!
I understand Syd's dad's desire to keep Syd out of trouble, but you know- I think they are going to make him look like he's crossing back and forth across the good guy- bad guy line before they decide where to put him.
And an interesting idea-- Syd was gone for 2 years that she has no memory of. What if-- and this is soooo soap opera but I don't put it past them -- Syd had a baby, either Vaughn's (DRAMA!!!) or *gasp* Sarks!!! Now _that_ would be interesting... and put Syd in the same place as her dad. Maybe Arina has the baby which is why Syd's not seen her mom nor has her dad had in person contact. Hrrmmmmmmm...

Date: 2003-10-14 11:48 am (UTC)As much as I adore Michael Vartan, I'm wishing they had left Vaughn a French teacher. He's married, that's it. If he left the CIA because he didn't want Lauren to ever have to deal with what he dealt with when Syd died, why on earth go back? I never got a clear idea of why he wanted to go back. And why on earth be a field agent?? He was a desk guy & handler all of the first season, only going in the field during The Box part 2, and a few other episodes after that - ALL without CIA knowledge, to help Syd.
And I have to say, should Ian pop up alive anytime even in the next TWENTY years, I would be feeling more torn than Vaughn seems to be. My loyalty was to him first - I would be doing whatever I could to help him re-enter his life, and be there for him, any present lover be damned if they didn't understand that. That part irritates me.
About Jack - I don't see them having any problem deciding where to put him (as to the good guy/bad guy line). He's exactly where he was the last two seasons - a good guy who has no problem going against the rules to protect his daughter.
Reunion really irritated me. The first Alias episode I have simply NOT liked, in over two years. Sigh.
