Just home from seeing Superman Returns.

I'll tell you up front-- when it comes to superheroes, I'm a Batman girl all the way. Superman was always too goody-two-shoes for me. But oh man, I loved this movie. I just adored it. I want to see it again immediately RIGHT NOW. The new Superman guy was great. KEVIN SPACEY HOLY CRAP. Just amazing. The kid was absolutely perfect, adorable and funny where needed and almost never annoying. And poor Cyclops, just once I'd like to see him be first choice for his girl, you know? Really dug all the father-son stuff. That'll pull me in every time for sure. Daddy!Supes = awwww.

Okay, now where is all the Batman Begins-Superman Returns crossover fic? Because there has to be some. Really, really has to be some. Cause in the movie they were like "Superman spotted in Gotham..." and you know Christian Bale was all "Get the fuck out of my city, I'm the goddamn Batman." Actually you know what would be even awesomer? A Batman Begins-verse Batclan, with a Robin and Batgirl and all, and the new Superman, and also the new Wonder Woman (who hasn't even been cast, COME ON JOSS), all in the same movie. That would be MADE OF AWESOME.

I totally loved the costuming in the movie. I think my favorite part was Lex in those great suits (brown corduroy!)-- but with the pants tucked into boots. Gave him much more of an adventuring-villain feel, less of a corporate-villain feel. Kitty's retro dresses and hats were just fantastic. Jimmy in checked shirts and bow ties! And I wish to own the shoes Lois kicked off when she went flying with Superman.

HEE! I had the same reaction. I came out of there thinking, "Oh my gawd. They made a Superman CHICK FLICK!"

And while Brandon Routh has an eerie resemblence to Christopher Reeve, he never played it too overly dramatic. I was quite impressed.

Yeah. I think we women are going to have a hard time deciding which film to watch over and over this summer: Superman or Pirates.....

Poor Cyclops is right!!! Come on, Jean, Mary Jane, AND Lois? What kind of agent does he have! (esp with what happens in X3!!!)

I caught the Gotham reference and squealed! No one else I was with caught it though till I pointed it out. Wooooot! Door is open!

And the kid-- I loved the kid. Honestly, between hearing the themes (the title theme and the Lois and Superman theme) and the kid- that is what made the movie for me.

And Kevin Spacey as Lex- great. :) I'd even say better than Gene Hackman. Mark loved Parker Posey- saying she had all the best lines. :)

Still can't wait for Pirates!!!!!

Oh, definitely. I, too, loved the kid. I didn't think they'd go there; even with the hints I thought it was a red herring. But dayum, it worked for me, on all emotional levels. It was like a Superman fanfic on film or something, right down to the angst and the lovechild.

Can't wait to see it again.

It was total film fanfic, which really isn't surprising since Bryan Singer is a great big fanboy. Not that that's a bad thing of course; I thought it worked really well, very emotionally satisfying. It was a bit like reading HP book 6-- I was thrilled, but still thinking "oh my god, this is actually happening!" in the back of my head.

I'm trying to convince people to see it this afternoon. :)

Wasn't it so great? I've fallen in love with Superman, all over again.

Agree the kid was great - played it just right. And the scene where he seems to recognize that Clark looks just like Superman and then starts to hyperventilate - that was priceless! Folks were LOL in the theater.

The costumes were very nice. I too took pleasant notice of Lex in his boots. It was so unexpected, but in a nice way. Now Superman's boots on the other hand... *sigh*

I think I need a Superman icon.

KEVIN KLINE HOLY CRAP.

I generally tend to agree that Kevin Kline is holy-crap-good, but I think in this instance you mean HOLY CRAP KEVIN SPACEY. :)

Yay Superman!! :-D

I think its gonna be my fallback movie, when I really wanna go see something, but can't convince myself to see anything new cause everything coming out this summer is total crap ('cept for that and Pirates)
