I have seen Superman again. Hurray.

- [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue had mentioned, after our first viewing, how expressive Kevin Spacey was as Lex-- how you could see the light going on behind his eyes whenever he figured something out. I watched for it this time, and it was really lovely, that "click" moment just before "...who is that boy's father?" and then "Brutus is dead. He got hit with a piano" and Lex pauses and then there's the *click*-- "Oh, it's time to go." And also the way he very quickly backed away when they did their first crystal experiment.

- How much do I adore Kitty's retro dresses? Absolute perfection. And I love how Lois had all those very high-waisted skirts and pants, keeping her clothing more grounded in the era of the original films.

- Okay, I completely failed to connect the dots the first time around and figure out what Lois told Superman when he was in his coma-whatever-thingy. It was only afterward that I was like "...wait, how did he figure out about Jason?" So this time I knew, and she was telling him while looking at Jason who was looking at the Superman costume and I was like OKAY YOU CAN TAKE THE KNIFE OUT NOW PLEASE OW. The whole movie is more knife-twisty, really, if you start out knowing who Jason really is.

- I have to know, what is it with the evil pomeranians? How come it's never evil chihuahuas, or something? What was that X-Files episode, there were pomeranians who ate someone? Or something? Anyway.

You KNOW that Pomeranians really are
evil right? That's why they are always
cast that way.

I don't know why it's always pomeranians; I thought it was supposed to be Alsatians. That's what they told me in BJD. "eaten by alsatians."

Oh, the movie was knife twisty enough when you thought jason was a red herring. I can't imagine sitting through it knowing the truth. Sigh. Must get back to the theatre. That or must find retro!Superman to watch. Have already watched "The Science of Superman" and a biography of the character, plus some promo stuff online. I am a total geek right now.

Did you realise there is not a single rentable copy of Superman 1 to be found in the entire Louisville area? I should have seen that coming. Alas, we made do with retro vampires instead: tonight I introduced my kids to "the lost boys." But my urge to compare/contrast with Reeve and Routhe continues, unsated.

What did you think of the dress/skirt Lois was wearing during her adventures on the boat? It was really long, and seemed oddly dressy to be worn as work clothes. I kept noticing it, and then when she jumped in the water I wondered how she would swim in it.

Well, she was on her way to the Pulitzer ceremony, yeah? So I think she was wearing a dressy dress.

She was? I totally missed that. I thought she'd already won the Pulitzer.

I totally believe that Superman is totally rented out. I was telling Rogue we should Netflix it but I bet it's a long wait.

Science of Superman? Character biography? Where are these magic things to be found? I too am obsessed-- I read the wiki entry on Supes, and I'm poking around my old Justice League fic haunts to find stuff with him, cause there's not much fic for the Returns-verse yet. And I need fic. Oh yes, I needs it, precious.

In lieu of watching the original Superman, we put in The Incredibles, since it's supers, and it's family. Good enough for now. *g*

I believe there's a mention of the actual ceremony being that night; Perry asks her if she has a dress, and that's why he's in the tux when they're trying to figure out what happened to Lois.

My nana's pom wasn't evil! I mean, he was sort of annoying, and he peed on stuff, but he wasn't evil. I don't think.

Erm, lemme think... Science of superman was on, National Geographic channel? Or Discovery Channel? Bravo ran the bio piece I was talking about. And there was another, sort of History of Superman, sev. hours long, maybe on the History Channel? Heck, it might have been VH-1 or something, even. All right around the opening of the movie. I literally spent a weekend hanging out with my television, flipping from one Supes program to another.

Science of Superman was on National Geographic. There was another documentary about Superman on A&E whose name I'm blanking on, right now. Both were quite interesting.

And I really need to go see it again. But Pirates and Devil Wears Prada must come before that.

(I know. Blasphemy!)

The A&E one is...shoot...the subtitle is "The Story of Superman". It's two or three hours long and covers him from the original creation in the comics.

SupI is on sale at Target for $7.50. I picked up I and II at Costco a few weeks back for $6.99 each.

What was that X-Files episode, there were pomeranians who ate someone?

I said the SAME thing to Cary!! It was "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose," the one with Peter Boyle. Remember what happened to Quiquey in a later episode? I believe he got eaten by an allegator...the leash Scully was holding came back empty.

I wonder if that was bad editing...when CK returns to the Planet, you see him checking out the plaque on Lois's desk, and it was clearly the Pulitzer, and clearly for "Why the World Doesn't Need Superman." I got the impression she won it a number of years ago, right after he left. When Perry mentioned the ceremony being that night, I was somewhat confused.
