For the MTG people: Alex and Tree are under voluntary evacuation. (Clarification from blusurfer: this is because of air quality concerns, not imminent flames.) They are packing up the cats and heading for Tree's parents in LA.

Chris and Rachel's house is very close to an evacuation area, but they haven't gotten any notices yet, as far as I am aware. They are at his office right now, "taking advantage of its recirculating air."

We are still in no danger, but we're getting ready to pack, just in case.

And as a clarification, their voluntary evacuation is due to air quality, not impending flames. I did find out in talking to Tree on the phone, that they have been under alert all day, as it sounds like much of east Carlsbad south of Palomar Airport Road has been. (That wasn't clear on the City website, which Dan has been watching...that's further north than I thought.)

Eek! I totally forgot about Chris #2 and Rachel. Which area are they in?

I just went and talked to Dan. Sounds like Jon and Janet finally evacuated...but judging by the number of people at Jon's party yesterday(!), they won't have a shortage of places to go.

Will never forget the Oakland fires, and the several days before we were allowed in to see if our house still stood. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
