On Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue, [livejournal.com profile] aviendiora, [livejournal.com profile] rhynndavrie, and I carpooled up to the Southern California Renaissance Pleasure Faire, which is about two hours away. We already had tickets, and it was the last day of the faire, so we pretty much had to go. Unfortunately it was NINETY MILLION DEGREES outside, so we didn't last as long as we would have liked. It really was fun, it was just NINETY MILLION DEGREES. And not that much shade. Decent breeze, though. They had a glassblower, which is always my favorite thing, but there was no way I was going to sit in the sun in front of a giant furnace. :(

My big adventure was I got my hair braided. I *love* having my hair braided. My mama used to French-braid my hair every day when I was little. I miss it. :( There was a big booth for hair-braiding-- looks like braiding is to this faire what facepaint is to the Maryland faire. It was also OMGHOT, but all the braiders were enjoying themselves and singing and such. Sadly, because it was the last day of faire, they were out of a lot of their ribbon colors. No white and no royal blue. Here is my hair:

We went to the afternoon joust, which made me feel really sorry for all the guys in armor. One of the knights totally looked like Sting. He was one of the bad knights, and he heard voices in his head. Our knight was Sir Tristan, who was a good guy, but clearly not the good guy who was going to win. He got stabbed in the gut near the end. There was a Fight to the Death at 4:30, which we did not stay for, but I would guess Sir Tristan didn't make it. Here he is, and him jousting with Sir Sting:

I was very, very glad that [livejournal.com profile] aviendiora reminded me about bringing a hat. I'm pretty sure that's what helped me escape a sunburn. It didn't really fit once I had my braids, though, so I just tied it down on the top of my head and it looked pretty silly. I don't think I took any pictures of that though. Here's what my hair looked like when I took the braids out:

Let's see...we also had ice cream, and fish and chips (so renaissance-y!), and we watched a comedy-juggling-fire-eating guy who was really funny. And drank a lot of water. I'm definitely planning to go again next year, but we'll go in April next time, so it isn't NINETY MILLION DEGREES and we can actually do stuff, instead of plodding around in a stupor.

You are so cute! XD

I love Renn Faire~ I've always wanted to try the hair braiding. It's very inspirational.
