I'm so excited that So You Think You Can Dance is back! I loooove dancing shows, and SYTYCD is my very favorite. It's just a bunch of really good dancers doing their thing, and it's fun to watch a ballroom dancer have to do hip-hop, or a breakdancer do disco. I stay the heck away from the fandom though, because I honestly don't care who's a jerk or who's stuck-up or who's dating who, I just want to see some great dancing!

So to celebrate, here are some of my favorite dances from seasons 2 and 3 (I didn't watch 1):

S3: Anya & Danny, Jive ("Girlfriend")
One of my all-time favorites (and lauched my obsession with this stupid song).

S2: Benji & Heidi, Mambo ("Black Mambo")
This one works better if you pretend they aren't cousins.

S3: Neil & Sara, Disco ("Knock on Wood")
SO MUCH FUN. Neil's tumbling in the beginning is unreal.

S2: Benji & Donyelle, Broadway ("You Can't Stop the Beat")
Personality exploding everywhere!

S3: Danny & Lacey, Samba ("Hip Hip Chin Chin")
ZOMG. HOT.

S2: Top 10 Group Dance, "Ramalama Bang Bang"
Zombiedance FTW! This thing is amazing.

S3: Pasha & Sara, West Coast Swing ("The Rockafeller Skank)
Pasha and Sara are the CUTEST THING. (And Benji's a good choreographer, but he comes off awfully annoying in the beginning.)

S3: Top 14 Group Dance, "You Can't Stop the Beat" (again)
Notice how there's only 6 girls? Yeah, Dom dropped Sabra on her head during the dress rehearsal. But she ended up winning the whole thing, so I guess it works out.

S2: Heidi & Travis, Paso Doble (Zorro soundtrack)
"Intense" is definitely the word for this one!

S3: Pasha & Lauren, Hip-Hop ("Fuego")
Dancing Transformers! Sort of.

And that one was from the very first week of competition! These kids are so good, it's crazy.

Anya's way better with Pasha. They've made US and Ohio Star finals before. (Also, minor disingenuousness I think that the show didn't make clear Anya and Pasha work for Tony and Melanie, or did at the time--may still, I don't know.)

Max and Yulia did Zorro and they did The Beat as show dances (youtube under Max and Yulia Paso Zorro and The Beat). Very much more awesome. Yulia and her new parter just came second in the Latin dances at Blackpool, too--they're so going to win everything in the US this next year. Of course Yulia is pretty much the best female Latin dancer in the world. She is not human, I say.

I confess, I don't really get into this show. Too much contemporary (I hate contemporary/modern/lyrical/synchronized hair-flipping) and I can only take so much breakdancing. And most of the time it's just painful watching people try to switch.

Nothing will ever beat Adam Corolla's Pasa Doble from Dancing With the Stars, srsly. xD

Also, I wanted to ask if I could possibly carpool with you on Saturday for the Rebel Legion Children's Hospital event? I saw on the forums that you were bringing your fabulous Rainbow Padme. There's a good chance I'll be attending with my Padme Packing (I'm still on standby, but there are people dropping out and a couple open spots). I don't know that many people who are going and I'd like to finally hang out with you. I know you're coming up from San Diego, but I can meet you near the freeway at a fast food place or something (I'm in Corona, right off the 91 and 15). Let me know! That would be amazing! I'll pay my share for gas and everything ♥

LOL at your icon! Obi-Wan wants to dance...

Yay, the Children's Hospital event! It will be fun to get to hang out with you! I'm carpooling with [livejournal.com profile] miana_dude up from SD, so I'll need to check with her. We would typically take the 5 straight up, rather than the 15-- would it work if you drove to the 91 & 5, and we picked you up there?

I sent her email, no reply yet. But I'm sure it will be fine. :) Yep, that's my phone number. I'm pretty sure I still have yours, assuming it's the same as it was last SDCC? I'm happy to help out!

I left a note on her LJ, too. Thank you! I hope it works out.

I just got email and she says sure! Yay! How do you transport your costume-- do we need to keep a space open for a particularly-shaped suitcase or box or anything?

Whoo awesome! I usually transport my Padme costume in a garment bag, but I lost all of those so it will probably just be a few layers on hangers, and a very small little grocery bag with the accessories.

Wow! I miss TV! I think the only one I didn't like was the last one, which is just prefrence I am sure. Makes me want to remind my husband of his promise to take me to ball room dancing lessons.
Is it sad I am picking out costumes???

LOL at the costumes thing! Sometimes the costumes are great and sometimes they make you go "WHAT!?".

Okay, I've spent way too much time looking at all these (and many more). I haven't seen this before but wow. Hmmm...back to looking some more... =)

btw - love zombiedance, just too funny.

The youtubes are great for sucking away your time watching dance videos. :)

Haven't had the chance to watch the clips you embedded (thanks!), but I too love the dancing shows, & SYTYCD is my favorite, too -- b/c dang, they really CAN dance, & it's a blast watching who can & can't adapt to "foreign" styles. My favorites in S2 were Benji (hey, swing dancer stick together) and Travis (dang those turns of his rock). Hardly saw any of S3, b/c they showed it on the same night as my dance class. :-)

If you liked Travis, you'll love Danny! They're adopted brothers, and Danny's turns are also amaaaaazing. You might like Neil, too. There weren't any Benji-like boy swing dancers, but there was Pasha, and he was quite delicious. *g*

Reminder, please, on behalf of Kim, that you still have the baldric lent to you a couple years ago for the pirate skit and could you please get it back to her? It's very important to her.

Hope you're well. :)

Ah, SYTYCD, my favorite show (though I wish they'd show fewer people who suck during the auditions, I like seeing the people who are awesome). And Pasha, I loved how he always made his partners better. There's nothing like seeing a popper trying to do a waltz or a ballroom person trying hip hop.

Yes, THIS. I hate watching the bad dancers. :( It's just sad. I like getting to know the good ones early on, but I wish they'd just hurry up and show Vegas week already.

OMG, thank you for posting these! I watched the first series, but after that lost track of it, I guess, and totally missed out on the zombie dance. I freaking love Roisin Murphy (Moloko was awesome), and adore "Ramalama (Bang Bang);" I'd heard about some zombie dance to it, but never remembered to track it down.

Made for a pretty nice lunch break, watching all of these!

You're welcome! The zombiedance is really just crazy awesome.

They're just now showing Vegas week of S4, so you can pick it right up if you want. :)
