Oh god all my shows are starting back up. SO MUCH TV YOU GUYS. (But so gleeful!)
Big Bang Theory 3x01, The Electric Can Opener Fluctuation
This show, you guys. THIS SHOW. It makes me want to jump up and down and clap my hands and hug my TV and shriek with delight. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
- Best part goes first: SHELDON AND PENNY. ZOMG. They can do whatever they want with the rest of the show; if they keep giving us scenes like that, I will stay the happiest of campers FOREVER AND EVER. It was a perfect showcase of their character development over the past two seasons. SHE SANG HIM SOFT KITTY, UNPROMPTED. (“That’s for when I’m sick, not when I’m sad.” “Sorry, I don’t know your sad song.” “I don’t have a sad song; I’m not a child!”) SHE APPARENTLY WENT TO SEE THE STAR TREK MOVIE WITHOUT THE BOYS MAKING HER GO. AND THEN DREW A PARALLEL FROM IT BECAUSE SHE KNEW SHELDON WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT. INCOHERENT FLAILING. And it was full of those lovely little prickly bits where there *should* be a sweet moment, but it gets twisted or arrested or punctured because Sheldon’s involved. (See also: “Okay, I’m sleepy now, get out.”)
- Comic-Con reference and shoutout picture at the end! Yay!
- Delighted to see Bawwy Kwipke, but shouldn’t Leslie have been there to revel in Sheldon’s misfortune, too? Was Sara Gilbert unavailable or are they just saving that for a later episode?
- HURRAY LAURIE METCALF. She’s fantastic and I love the way they handle her character. Like the boys, and really like Penny too, she incorporates a lot of stereotypical aspects while still being a real and hilarious person. Loved how she knew *exactly* what buttons to push to send Sheldon back to Pasadena. My hat is off to the writers: “Evolution is a scientific fact.” “And that is your opinion,” and I went “ohhhh, it’s not funny because it’s so true,” and then they turned it right back around and suddenly it WAS funny, and OH SHOW I LOVE YOU. LET US KISS WITH TOOOONNNNGUEEE.
- Sheldon’s :D face KILLED ME. If there aren’t already ten icons of that floating around LJ I will be very disappointed in the internets.
- Penny's store-bought Celebration Pie!!!
- Uhhhh. What else. Sheldon’s mirror-Spock goatee!!! Rogue wondered if that made him Good Sheldon. Apparently not.
- Oh, and I guess there were some Leonard and Penny scenes too? ;-P
CASTLE!
Not too many specific comments, because most of our reaction to this show is “His FACE! Look at his face!” and then rewinding the TiVo and cackling like loons. Because Nathan Fillion makes awesome faces.
- Body gets stolen from the morgue-mobile. Me: “Haven’t we already seen this episode of Firefly?” Body shows up, organs removed. Rogue: “We have *definitely* already seen this episode of Firefly.”
- Beckett does a quick-change to go rescue Castle from the Russian mob dudes. Me: “What’s up, Sydney Bristow?” Rogue: “I love that she went *outside* the van to change.”
- Alexis continues to rock. MORE PLS.
- Nice little plug for Fame, and the Whedon connection amuses me (Dr. Horrible co-written by Maurissa Tancharoen Whedon, sister of Kevin, director of Fame remake)
- Not sold on Beckett’s longer hair. Shades of Olivia and SVU, anyone?
- Rogue, on NF’s different roles: “It’s like with Claudia Black and Aeryn and Vala. I *loved* him as Mal—but he’s just so much fun as Castle!”
Tonight we watched last night's House (because there was no time last night, two hours, wtf???) and I have nothing to say, really. Except Franka Potente looks kind of like Claire Danes, yeah?
