Help! Somebody please convince me that just because Syd's name was Julia, and Sark's name is Julian, that doesn't necessarily mean they're brother and sister! I've been trying to rationalize it but you people are always so much better at this sort of thing.

it's too obvious. Not that Alias hasn't slipped into the obvious -- like Lindsey wasn't going to get a bullet in his head.

But honestly, my theory on last night wasn't even about Sark or Syd. It was Will and Sark. The blond hair buzzed cuts, the blue-blue eyes, Lazaray only wanting to deal with Will -- My little brain decided Will is Sark's half-brother or something somehow. Alias is nothing if not soapy. The idea of Syd and Sark being related is just plan dopey and just a way to cater to Syd/Vaughn fans and that is just bad storytelling. Has been always.

But my hope is Sark didn't kill Daddy and that Daddy finds Will in Wiscousin. Plus Will is like a natural at the spy thing... he should keep getting dragged in and in and in....

As for the Julia/Julian thing, it's just silly. They are just names. Just names. They mean nothing. But I do have to say I love the name Julian, if fits Sark well.

Of course this is the only Alias I've actually enjoyed all year. And I don't think I made you feel better, did I? And wasn't my Will so cute in his cowboy hat and bad accent! And Sark winking when he stole the thing from right under Syd! Heh.

that would actually be a really awesome storyline -- I'd love to see that. Too bad Bradley is gone for good because he thinks Will is "too passive" of a character.

After that episode he thought was too passive? LOL. I've always considered Will a very active character, he found out things the spies themselves couldn't figure out.

Grrr. They screwed the character over for boring Vaughn though...sorry if you like Vaughn, he just bores me.

yeah, that's the thing. i read that interview with Bradley back in like September. I really felt like this episode might have been JJ throwing him a bone: "See, Will doesn't have to be passive! He can kick ass!" So I don't know, maybe there is hope for him to return.

I'm on and off with Vaughn. I liked him a lot for most of season 1, and I thought that the degradation of his character I saw in season 2 might have been a fluke. There are days when I like him, and days I don't.

I don't think they'd have names that similar if they were brother and sister. I'm speculating that the alias Julia was chosen as a deliberate echo of Sark's name. Who did the choosing seems to be the question. Was it Lazarey himself? Irina? Sloane? It's very striking, I think, that Julia only appeared after Julian was for all intents and purposes removed from the scene for two years, and disappeared shortly before his re-emergence.
