Hey, remember when I posted about fandom-y stuff on this journal? (Remember when I posted at all?)

Spoilers for the Bones finale, 6x23, 'The Change in the Game':

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT.

That was some *damned* fine fanbase trolling, HH & Co. And I mean that sincerely. They're all "oh nooooo, you can't put your two leads together," "oh wait here you go, we're going to do it-- WAIT NO IT WAS A DREAM," "oh noooo, we're not going to write ED's pregnancy into the show." AND THEN WE GET THIS.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT.

My brain does this thing, when something happens that I *really* wanted but didn't think would ever actually happen, where I sort of just can't process that it really did happen and my brain just goes *pop* and all I can generate is a squeak. Which is pretty much what happened to me last Thursday.

LOOK AT MY ICON YOU GUYS. I HAVE HAD THIS ICON FOR LIKE EVER. AND NOW WE GET IT FOR REALS. GIVE ME NEXT SEASON. GIVE IT. GIVE IT NOW.

(Many people have said they felt cheated because this came out of nowhere, there was no sex scene, we didn't get a declaration, whatever. Me, I don't need any of that. I thought it was perfect. Let's just jump in with both feet and see what happens.)

I want fic (badly) but none has yet appeared so I have been rereading my absolute favoritest Bones babyfic of all time, which all of you should also read because it is BRILLIANT and PERFECT. And I want next season to happen exactly like it. (It will not. I will probably be okay. As long as it's still adorable and awkward and charming.)

I was THRILLED!!

Fen and I were actually sitting in the ER trying to avoid watching Bones while there. Fen stupidly looked up during the last pronouncement and actually went, "Oh. My. Gawd."

I love it. I think it's a great direction to go with the show. Because trying to watch these two and everyone around them process this is going to be priceless.

And I'm beyond relieved as I'd heard the rumor that someone ELSE was dying. So yay!

It totally reminded me of the XF season 7 finale, when we were all sitting around Dan&Debby's living room absolutely glued to the TV. I have a picture of that somewhere. I should dig it up.

I'm sad about Mr. Nigel-Murray though. :(

I was happy with the way they handled it too! It was a very good episode. And I loved how conniving Daddy Bones was... sneaky old bastard. Sweets is going to flip his top fan-girl style. Next season can't come soon enough. I agree on Booth's cute lil smile, I saw the deer-in-headlights look and had no clue which way he was going to go with it

I'm with you that it was perfect. Things go very wrong when they try too hard on those big moments. I thought the lovely Booth comforting her, then the only real clue we get that something more happened was in her smiling response when Angela asked her about it.

And then we get to use our own imaginations as to whether it was one-time or ongoing since then. Personally, given the way they were acting and the way Max kept noting it, it's been ongoing since then.

It actually felt a little awkward when she said specifically that Booth was the father because, seriously, I think it'd have to be obvious to him he's the only one it could be. But it fits her character to say awkward and rational things AND it was nice to not do the whole "who's the father" bait that XF did (badly), so even though it didn't feel quite right, I think it was a good decision.

Otherwise, I couldn't be happier. They won't have to (badly) try and hide ED's pregnancy, the tension will easily and very-in-character be whether or not they should get married (Booth will totally want to, like YESTERDAY and Bones will be reluctant). But they were willing to take the step, and I hope they prove that relationships CAN be interesting after RST, in the hands of the right writer.

I had the same thought about the "You're the father" being awkward, but when I thought about it, I'd prefer that to a whole summer of people going "OMG BUT WHO IS THE DADDY," X-Files style.

I agree, I think it's been ongoing. I suppose they'll tell us next season. And I cannot *wait* for the whole we-should-get-married issue. There will be more fic on my screen! (Eeeee!)
