Pictures from the invited dress of The Wiz are online here! Ignore the Scarecrow's costume; it's been completely changed (as of two days ago, le sigh).

I had a very-not-fun gymnastics class today, so instead of wallowing (which I did on the bus home) I am going to list things that have made me happy recently:

  • Chuck Norris reads Chuck Norris Facts! SO FUNNY.

  • I made [livejournal.com profile] mary_linton's chocolate-chip-sour-cream coffee cake last night and took it into work and people loved it again. Mmmm.

  • Perri's Gilmore Girls fic recs reminded me why I loved Luke and Lorelai in the first place and took me back to a happier time in my GG watching. You know, like two three months ago, when we were still catching up.

  • My Jersey Boys Original Broadway Cast CD arrived today. It's not quite listening to the show from up in the shop, but it's close. The memory of making my wedding dress is inextricably tied to the songs from this show, wafting up from the stage. (Endless repeats of "Who Loves You," that's usually the song it triggers.) *loves on Jersey Boys*

  • We've been Netflixing Season 1 of Justice League-- we started watching JLU a few years ago, so now we're going back to the beginning. It's very very happy-inducing. (Batman/Wonder Woman 4EVA!!!) Except you don't get to see the total animated hotness that is Shayera, because she's wearing that dumbass mask and costume. (Note to self, make Shayera icon.)

  • The icon in this post, both because it's funny, and because I am currently desperately in love with Nine. (That's why I haven't been watching the new-new Who along with the rest of the flist; if I only get thirteen episodes with Christopher Eccleston, I'm going to make them last, dammit. David Tennant will still be there when I'm done.)

  • And the husband made me a hamburger for dinner. Total comfort food, yum. And he just put in The Hunt for Red October, which has SAM NEILL YAY.

Well. Feeling much better now. Think I'll go find some fics. (So many fandoms, so little time!)

I wish I were not so scared of calling people on the phone.

Why can't everyone use email, like sensible people?

WHY GOD WHY AAARGH.

ETA: You know, I really need to stop freaking out about these things. It went fine. It went better than fine. It's just that initial hurdle of dialing. (I always try to write an outline of how I want the conversation to go, when I'm calling a business, or a stranger, or whatever. Is that weird?)

Yay!

Cast, date set for 'Jersey Boys' on Broadway

The La Jolla Playhouse hit, again directed by Playhouse head Des McAnuff, will begin previews Oct. 3 at the Virginia Theatre on West 52nd Street. The official opening night is Nov. 6.

The show, which wraps the Four Seasons' real-life story around two dozen of the group's chart-topping songs, broke box office records during the Playhouse run last fall to become the most successful production in the company's history. Extended three times through January, it starred David Narona in the pivotal role of lead singer Frankie Valli.

The Broadway cast will feature a different actor as Valli, John Lloyd Young.

I'm sad that they changed Frankies. I wonder why, since the other three are staying. If you can get your butt to Broadway, go see this show! It's awesome awesome awesome! I'd love to go see it if at all possible...the only time I ever saw it was that first invited dress, because it opened right around the time I got married, and I know they changed stuff.

Wow. This has been a day.

It's actually been a very long day. But in a good way.

Synchronized skating nationals started today-- well, official practice did, anyway. I had my first volunteer shift, guiding teams to their dressing rooms, then to the ice, then back to their dressing rooms. Was on my feet for a solid four hours. And I have three days of this ahead of me-- eight hours on Saturday! But it was *all* good, because I got to watch a ton of skating, and interact with skaters and coaches and other volunteers and even got fed lunch. *AND*-- and!-- one of the teams I was assigned was my old team, the Metroliners. All of the girls I used to skate with have aged out, but my old coach is still with them. I walked right up to her and said cheerily, "Hi, Amy!" And she sort of did a double take and said, "Oh my gosh, Caitlin!" And we hugged, and we were happy, and she told the whole team who I was, and we did a little bit of catching up. I'll definitely see them more throughout the weekend. I also found out that two of my former teammates are now skating for Miami's collegiate team, so perhaps I'll get to see them this weekend too.

Then-- I checked my UCSD email, and I had a message from UCSD's costume shop manager. (I've been volunteering there once a week since the start of school in September.) She asked if I was going to be here this summer, and did I want to work in the costume shop-- for pay! AAAAHH! How cool is that!? I wrote her back and said that my grad program was year round, so I'm expected to work full-time in lab, but I could probably work out some schedule so that I could also work part-time in the costume shop. Eeeeeee!!!! I would be *so* happy to actually get paid to sew. Foot in the door...

Now I really need to sleep. Long few days ahead.
