Now that we have our VM S1 box set back (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] miana_dude and Whitney), I've been re-re-watching the eps. No particular order, just "oooh, I wanna rewatch *this* part" which inevitably leads to wanting to rewatch something else, and then something else...which is a great way to waste a weekend, actually. So!

Things from watching Veronica Mars Season 1, the umpteenth time around:

1. I love that Weevil calls Keith "Sheriff." And that he comes to help Veronica when she calls. And basically everything about Weevil.

2. Maaaaac! I'm so happy she'll be a regular in S3. The show needs more girls. You open up the DVD set, and each DVD has a character on it, and it's Veronica and her five boys. Plus, she's adorable and geeky.

3. Even knowing what Aaron Echolls is, and knowing what he'll do...I still sort of almost fell for his act. Gyah! He acted so happy...he drove Veronica home...and GYAH! Mad props to Harry Hamlin.

4. Sort of on that subject, spoiler for S2 finale )

5. Oooh, I'd forgotten about Duncan's unfortunate facial hair late in S1. Heee.

6. Hot damn, I loves me some Logan. In fact, I'm going to put in the episode where he totally breaks down about Lynn's death, right now.

And on a Logan note, now that I'm hooked on Dark Angel (the first DVD arrives soon, via Netflix! [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue is awesome!), there are just too damn many characters named Logan around. I suppose Logan Cale wins for existing first, but Logan Echolls wins for sheer awesome. And Logan Huntzberger-- well, he's just there. Brain-breakingly, Cale and Echolls are actually the same fictional age-- both born in 1988. Huntzberger is a few fictional years older. Any other Logans I'm leaving out? ([livejournal.com profile] lyssie just pointed out that I left out Wolverine. I suck as an X-Men fan! *cries*)

It's not as bad as the plethora of Johns/Jacks, though. I mean sheesh, I know it's a common name, but it's not the *only* common name out there. The Stargates are the worst for naming the lead male character on *both* series "John." I sort of want to make a list of all the genre Johns/Jacks I can think of, you know? Jack O'Neill, John Sheppard, John Crichton, Jack Bristow, John Danziger...oooh, Captain Jack Harkness! Can't forget him. And hey, Captain Jack Sparrow, if it comes to it.

I was all set to play in my first softball game on [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue and Dan's team. Nervous, jittery, but excited. We were up first. Three singles, bases loaded. Then Scott, our fourth batter, came up.

And he hit a line drive straight into the third baseman's forehead.

By some stroke of luck, two medics happened to be watching the game. One ran to him while the other ran to their car for their kit. They got him bandaged up so he could be taken to the hospital for stitches. The other team decided to forfeit, which I totally understand, but ugh. Bad night.

And we just discovered that TiVo decided not to record Gilmore Girls for no reason that makes any kind of sense. DO NOT SPOIL ME; I am not in a cheerful mood right now.

ETA: Okay, I've now watched VM and downloaded GG and am in a *far* better mood.

just the one VM spoiler )

As for Gilmore Girls, I haven't read anyone else's reactions, but I'm pretty sure mine's the opposite of general sentiment. Because I am strange.

Just finished tonight's Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars. No spoilers, but--

In the Battle of the Logans, it's Echolls with the victory in a first-round knockout. Maxim-style head-to-head comparison to follow.
