So I really meant to do this about two weeks ago, but whatever, better late than never--

I opened an Etsy store!

I'm selling dice bags, since the boys all seem to covet [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue's (made by Steph originally, I should note), and when Janet asked me to make one for Jon as a Christmas present last year, I was like hey, I could try selling these! Of course it took me a year to get around to it! :-P

Anyhow, it's pretty much a random experiment, but I had a fun time finding the fabric and making the bags. I've only got three up there now, but I have two more made that I'll post tomorrow when there is once again sunlight. And apparently you can name your etsy stores? I have no idea what to call mine. It's totally bare-bones right now!

OK, something I have always wondered: how do you take pictures with a blank white background? Do you have like a special picture taking box? Or just really clean counters?

Also, those look GORGEOUS. I kind of want one but I don't game.

There are lightbox setups you can buy, or make yourself (google "make your own lightbox" or similar). I tried that, but I haven't got the nice kind of lamps that give you good light. So I just went out onto my balcony in the late afternoon (so, indirect light), and propped up a piece of white posterboard, like so:

And then took my picture. And then did a little bit of cleanup on the image in Picasa (I've got Photoshop, but Picasa was faster and gave acceptable results).

And thank you! If you really want one I think they could probably be used for other things than dice! :)

My jaw actually dropped when I saw that. SO COOL! Or maybe I am just easily impressed. I will try that out sometime, definitely.

I would get one for a fancy purse or something but I am trying my best to cut down on buying things because they are just going to sit in storage while I'm studying abroad.

Thanks! I was very pleased that it worked. :D

Echoing Trina: where are you going to study abroad? I must've missed you mentioning it!

This kind of thing is EXACTLY why I will never be a craft-sy person. It would never in a gazillion years occur to me that the solution was that simple.

Also the bags look gorgeous -- wow, I just glanced up and saw that that phrase is popular -- and I'm pondering getting one as a gift. Uh, it sorta depends on what else I buy. Definitely beautiful work!

I got the idea from the make-your-own-lightbox setups-- I just basically removed the lightbox. *g*

Thanks very much! :)

Cool! Would you like some of those SW scarves that I have for fabric to use?

Hmmmm, possibly? I'd need to look at them first. Thanks for the offer!

I have a friend who has done very well on Etsy selling her hand crafted glass beads. I'm sure you will come up with a cunning name.
