I made things!

I took a millinery class at the community college this semester, and I finally took some pictures of my finished product! It's a blocked buckram crown and drafted brim, covered with gray wool and trimmed with black grosgrain:

It's lined in blue silk taffeta:

I also made little ornaments for all the members of last year's Bring It On: Rock the Mouse Masquerade group. (This is somewhat of a tradition for our group-- we have some adorable ornaments from entries past from Corli.) They're shaped like the Mickey Mouse logo, with pom-poms as the ears. One side has our group logo, the other side has a picture of the castmember it belonged to. This is about half of them-- the rest had already been given to their recipients. (Hey, Victoria! Send me your address and I can send you yours!)

Cute creativity all around. The ornaments remind me of the Jem ornament I have from when we did that at BayCon in '05...including fuzzystuffs :D

I think for WonderCon I ended up making everyone backstage passes with their character names on them. It was entertaining because I believe I labelled them as "world tour 2005/2006" or something similar :D

Ah, the little things we do for teh memorieszes :D

I don't understand. How do you keep all this awesome in such a small body? i think maybe you need to start your own Martha Stewart empire.

That hat is made of AWESOME! Is that taffeta leftover from Yvaine? I love the blue with grey - great detail. =)

And of course, thanks for the ornament! Where do you find the time to do all of this?

Oh, wow. That's fantastic! I've started the de-mystification of millinery in the last couple of weeks. I used to think the process was:
1. Assemble materials
2. Say incantation
3. Hat!
But now I have a bit more of an idea as to what happens in step 2. I went down to Spotlight and got 20cm of Buckram and now I'm going to play.

I really love yours. It's simple, which means you can't hide any construction problems with trim, so I'm very impressed ;-)

Cute hat. Does it have a purpose/place yet? Thank you so. Much for the ornament. It is totally made of win.
